BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 015 ☀️🐈

POV: You’re trying to run a small business, but your Creative Director has scheduled a mandatory sunbathing break. 😂

Ember has apparently decided that the windowsill is her office, the sunshine is her paycheck, and supervising Moonlight Ink Co. requires absolutely no actual work. 🤣

Meanwhile, I have orders to work on, projects to create, a website to finish, and approximately 700 things on my to-do list… and she’s over here living her best little sun-soaked life.

Honestly, though? Every creative business needs a little downtime. Even if mine comes in the form of a tiny, furry supervisor who contributes nothing to the workload but somehow manages to be involved in EVERYTHING. 😂

She may not be the one making the products, but she’s definitely part of the Moonlight crew. 🤎🐾

Now if only I could convince her that quality control includes occasionally getting OFF the windowsill and letting me get back to work. 😅

A little peek into an under-the-sea world! 🐢🪼

Titus was such a fun set to bring to life, with soft ocean colors, sandy shores, seaweed, bubbles, and all the little sea creatures tucked throughout each letter.

I love how each letter has its own details while still coming together as one cohesive set. No two letters are exactly alike, and that’s part of the fun of making these keepsakes!

Another set finished, photographed, and ready to make its way to a new home. 🤍

BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 014 🐈‍⬛

Ever feel like you’re being watched? 👀

In this house, it’s usually because you are. 😂

And apparently, Ember thinks the best place to conduct her surveillance today is BEHIND THE CURTAIN. 😅

She’s always lurking somewhere, waiting for her perfect moment to cause some sort of problem. I don’t know what she’s plotting, but the look in her eyes tells me it’s probably not good. 🤣

One minute, everything is peaceful. The next, there’s a suspicious noise, something’s been knocked over, or she’s emerging from a place no cat had any business being in the first place.

She may be tiny, but her commitment to household chaos is unmatched.

Anyway, if you need me, I’ll be over here being silently judged by a cat hiding behind a curtain. 😂🤎

I recently got to create this setup for a new local cosmetologist — a custom display sign for social media + payment info, along with matching business cards.

I love projects like this because it’s not just about making something pretty. It’s about creating those little details that help a new business feel established, cohesive, and ready to welcome clients.

And getting to support another local business while doing what I love? I’ll take it. 🖤

BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 013 🎃

Apparently I disappeared for a week. 🤣

Between orders, website work, sourdough shenanigans, keeping up with the house, Trace, the animals, and approximately 700 random things that somehow became my problem, I’ve been a little busy. 😂

So here’s what we’re working with today: a Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte.

And before anyone asks — NO, it’s not coffee. 😂

I’m actually trying the Pumpkin Spice Chai powder as a drink first, because apparently I should probably know what something tastes like before I start throwing it into baked goods. 🤷🏻‍♀️

And if I like it?

Well… you already know what happens next. 😂

I’m putting it in muffins. 🎃🧁

Because apparently I can’t just try a new drink like a normal person. I immediately have to wonder what I can bake with it. 🤣

Anyway… hi. I’m still here. Just apparently busy drinking my potential muffin ingredients while I cook dinner. 😂🤷‍♀️

BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 012

Okay… I MADE BREAD. 😂🥖

After the last two months of Doughlene doing absolutely whatever the heck she wanted, and then bringing Earl into the picture about a week and a half ago… we finally have a loaf!

And honestly? I’m freaking excited about it.

Is it perfect? Nope. 😂 We definitely have some adjustments to make for the next one, but considering this is my first ever sourdough loaf, I am SO happy with how it turned out.

Like… I made this.
With flour.
And water.
And a starter I have spent entirely too much time trying to learn. 😂

There’s something so satisfying about pulling something out of the oven and realizing you actually made the thing.

So, here’s to loaf #1 — not perfect, but absolutely something I’m proud of.

Apparently I am baking bread now. 🤷‍♀️🖤

BEHIND THE MOONLIGHT - Entry 011

A Sourdough Love Story

Once upon a time, there was a girl named Madi who decided she wanted to learn how to make sourdough.

And so, Doughlene entered her life.

For nearly two months, Madi fed her, cared for her, watched her bubbles, celebrated her tiny victories, and patiently waited for her to become the bread-making queen she was promised to be.

Doughlene, however, had other plans.

She was slow.
She was dramatic.
She needed time.
Apparently, she was “not ready.” 🙄

So after nearly two months of this situationship, Madi did what any reasonable woman would do…

She brought another starter home.

Enter Earl.

Earl had confidence. Earl had experience. Earl had absolutely no business showing up and immediately stealing Doughlene’s spotlight.

And yet… here we are. 😂

A week and a half later, Earl has officially earned himself a date with the oven while Doughlene is standing in the corner like:

“Oh, NOW you want bread? Fine. Watch this.”

So today’s shenanigans involved flour, dough, questionable decisions, and two sourdough starters fighting for custody of my kitchen.

And somehow, I’m still the one who signed up for this. 😂🥖

It can be practical.
It can be ridiculous.
It can be something you’ve seen on Pinterest and thought, “I have no idea where I’d even get that.”
