Yellow Kunzite - Afghanistan 8
A gorgeous, fancifully sculpted gem crystal that is unusual in color. Yellow spodumene is actually quite rare, much more rare than the green or pink varieties, and all the various shades of blue/lavender which we sometimes see. Triphane, is what the green variety is sometimes called. Spodumene is named from the Greek spodoumenos, meaning "burnt to ash," which alludes to the ashy color of many specimens.

Petroleum quartz also known as Golden Enhydros, are a very beautiful and energetic quartz type. The name was derived from the golden liquid that contains pure petroleum oil. When placed under UV light it's even more beautiful as it reacts! Check picture 2!
Similar to the petroleum quartz pulled in Pakistan, again to clarify this is not that. This is from Africa.

It’s been awhile! But we are alive, well, and seemingly ready to get back into the swing of things. I’ve got plenty of wares to show off including some new material I picked up in Tucson from the gem show! Also upgraded the camera quality for your viewing pleasure:) I can’t waiting to get it all on camera and on the page! In the mean time check out these Vera Cruz samples I picked up in Tucson and will be selling online and at the booth. Tanzanite is the violet blue to blue violet variety of the mineral zoisite. It is mined commercially only in one area of the world: the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, which is where it gets its name. According to a Tanzanian geologist, the circumstances that led to its formation 585 million years ago were so exceptional that the likelihood of finding tanzanite anywhere else on earth is one in a million, making it a thousand times rarer than diamonds.

Unakite Jasper is also called Epidote, for its main component deriving its name from the Greek epidosis meaning “growing together.” An amalgamation of Red Jasper, pink Feldspar and green Epidote, Unakite is solidly bound together and is said to symbolize “what comes together belongs together.” It forms in dense, opague masses as a granite rock and ranges in color from pistachio to moss green interlaced with areas of pink, peach or light red. It is named for the Unaka Mountains of Tennessee and North Carolina, USA, where it was first found, but is also found in pebbles and boulders in glacial drifts around the Great Lakes, as well as Zimbabwe and Switzerland. It is occasionally listed as Epidotized Granite or Grandodiorite.

In the 19th century, a huge fascination with the Mesoamerican culture was widespread throughout Europe and North America. Europeans traded tales and even ancient artifacts from ancient Mesoamerican peoples including crystal skulls. There are three different theories that attempt to explain the origins of crystal skulls. First, that they come from ancient Mesoamerica. Second, that they came from the lost islands of Atlantis or Lemuria. And third, that crystal skulls were possibly made by aliens and not by human hands. But the most popular and often told version of all is the first theory. This version claims that 13 crystal skulls were discovered in the late 19th century which were believed to be crafted by the peoples of Mesoamerica. Twelve of these were of equal size and contained information about the planets, and one large skull that acted as a center of consciousness for all the planets. Arranging the 12 in a circle and placing the 13th at the center was the way to access supernatural knowledge contained in these crystals, promoting human enlightenment.
