Assistance League® of Boise, through our Cinderella’s Closet program, recently provided an opportunity for girls and women who are part of Idaho Miss Amazing to try on and pick out no-cost formal wear for their upcoming event AMPLIFY.

AMPLIFY is an event where girls and women with disabilities step into the spotlight to build confidence and self-advocacy skills, defining who they are and who they want to be – on their own terms. Through the three skill areas—Interview, Passion Presentation, and Introduction—participants share their stories and showcase what they love.

We feel so honored to have played a small part in helping them feel confident and beautiful. This is just one more way that Assistance League of Boise is helping people in our community!

Assistance League® of Boise’s wonderful Brighter Image Wigs program serves members of our community who have medical hair loss. By appointment only, each recipient can choose up to two new wigs, completely free of charge.

To make our wig area more comfortable, we recently did a remodel with new storage and seating areas.

Past wig recipients have stated, “Getting my wig was a great start to this new life challenge” and “This program is quite literally the best in the valley.” If you or someone you know can benefit from this service, please call (208) 488-2912 with any questions or to schedule an appointment with one of our caring volunteers.

The Ada County Victim Services Center (ACVSC) celebrated its 20th anniversary on August 28, 2026, marking two decades of providing coordinated, compassionate support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and human trafficking.

Assistance League of Boise has been a part of this great organization through our Cares Closet program. We were happy to celebrate this milestone with ACVSC.

In partnership with St. Luke’s Children at Risk Evaluation Services (CARES), along with the local area police departments, we have enhanced the distribution of essential clothing and personal care items for at-risk children being evaluated at the St. Luke’s CARES clinic.

CARES Closet serves at-risk children from birth through age 18 years and is accessible 24X7 as needed by St. Luke’s personnel and local law enforcement.

We had a fantastic visit today from Kaeden Lincoln with Idaho Education News!

During his time at Operation School Bell, Kaeden spent time interviewing our OSB Chairwomen, shadowing one of our amazing volunteers as they worked with a student, and even conducting a student interview! Afterward, he stopped by our Thrift Shop, where our hard-working volunteers were thrilled to snap a picture with him.

Thank you, Kaeden, and the entire team at Idaho Education News , for taking the time to highlight our mission and see the impact on our local students firsthand!

Community Spotlight: Assistance League of Boise 🫱🏻‍🫲🏼

Assistance League of Boise’s mission is to improve the lives of children and adults in the community through its volunteers and programs. The organization helps meet the essential needs in our community so families can flourish.

Now that Treasure Valley schools are in session, Assistance League’s school-aged programs, like Operation School Bell® and Teen Retail, are especially needed. Operation School Bell® provides brand new clothing and shoes to eligible elementary school-aged children throughout Ada County. For some children, this will be the first time they have had a new pair of shoes, a warm coat, or a toothbrush of their own. New clothing has the potential to boost self-esteem, encourage school attendance, and improve academic performance.

2024–25 numbers for:

Operation School Bell® (Ada County):
📝 3,349 elementary age students served, with each child given:
🧤 2 pairs of pants, 2 t-shirts, sweatshirt, winter coat, hat, & gloves
🧦 6 pairs of underwear, 6 pairs of socks, shoes, personal care kit, & book

Teen Retail (Ada County):
📓 1,226 junior high/middle school and high school students served
🛍️ Each student given $200 to spend on clothes and shoes at JCPenney

Operation School Supplies (Ada County):
📚 14,859 students served
🖇️ Supplies are purchased and assembled for each participating school
🏫 School counselors then pick up and distribute supplies

From Assistance League of Boise:
“We are fortunate to have many volunteers who are dedicated to working Operation School Bell®. Each day we have approximately 75 students come to our facility to receive brand new clothing. We have a minimum of 15 volunteers involved every day. We will dress approximately 3700 preschool through elementary school students in Ada County and another 200 in Canyon County in 2026–27.”
