Finished some new books. Putting myself on a library ban for awhile otherwise I’ll never get to some highly anticipated books on my shelf.

If you love music and Shakespeare, pick up Pop Sonnets.

If you love Mean Girls (and Shakespeare), read Much Ago About Mean Girls.

A day (or two) late but not a dollar short! I read (and listened) to some great books this week. Baby D agrees because we had some new favorites join the list.

I finished my first TBR book (Game On by Janet Evanovich). I would recommend every book this week! The Stephanie Plum books are just fun icebreakers.

A Stolen Life was recently added to the banned book list for West Ada and I had to read it! 😭🤯 It’s graphic and mind blowing. If you can handle it, read it.

🎧 The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose

Welcome to 2024 and a brand new year of reading!

I’m still not sure I believe it, but somehow I managed to hit my extended lofty reading goal for 2023. It started at 250 books and then I decided why not try for 365.

I ended the year having “read” 366 books! This includes audiobooks, which is where 25% of my reading came from (most of it at the end of the year while taking care of a tiny human).

I read 33 books in December and a total of 9,796 pages.

Top 5 Reads included:
✨ On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong
✨ Taste by Stanley Tucci
✨ Create Anyway by Ashlee Gadd
✨ Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood
✨ Boundaries by Henry Cloud

It’s always fun to start fresh and I’m excited for this next year of more relaxed reading. I’m not 100% sure how it will all play out but just so I can look back and see how I did, here are some goals I’m aiming for …

✨ Read 100 books from my TBR (currently at over 500 books unread)
✨ Read a book a day with the tiny human (aka 365)
✨ Track how much I save my borrowing books
✨ Make a dent in my Kindle books (roughly around 75 books)
✨ If I buy a book in 2024, it needs to be read in 2024
✨ Publish my next novel (and start working on the next one)

It’s going to be interesting to see how the next year plays out!

Phew!

I just finished my last book of 2023 and it was the perfect choice for this season in my life and for the last day of the year.

I haven’t had much space in my life to pursue my passion for writing and this book has inspired me to find those moments in the new year.

I can’t wait to start off strong with a set of goals that I know I can manage with baby in tow.

This book is officially number 366 for 2023! I honestly didn’t think I would accomplish my reading goal of 365 (more on that later), but I owe most of it to late night feedings. 😆

My reading goals for 2024 are not near as lofty but I hope the books I choose are more memorable.

Happy New Year and Happy Reading!

Happy December!

Let’s just jump right into everything books!

Total Books “Read” in November - 30
Total Pages “Read” in November - 8,115
Total Books from my shelf - 8

Total books read so far in 2023 - 348/365.

November Recommended Reads are all memoirs/biographies that kept me entertained and were quick and easy to get through with a newborn.

The top read goes to Matthew Perry. Last year I read the physical book, and this year I listened to the audio. Hearing his voice tell his own story only a week after his death brought extra tears!

A majority of these were audiobooks that kept me awake and entertained while nursing in the middle of the night:
✨ Friends, Lovers, & the Big Terrible Thing by Matthew Perry
✨ Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey (re-read)
✨ Grimoire Girl by Hilarie Burton Morgan
✨ The Woman in Me by Britney Spears
✨ Paris: the Memoir by Paris Hilton
✨ Beyond the Wand by Tom Felton
✨ Love, Pamela by Pamela Anderson
✨ Yes Please by Amy Poehler
✨ No Time Like the Future by Michael J. Fox
✨ Madly, Deeply by Alan Rickman

Bonus mention from a December read:
✨ If You Would Have Told Me by John Stamos

What is one of your favorite memoirs or biographies?

Happy November (technically closer to December)!

October was definitely an interesting reading month. I’m still managing to stay on track toward my overall heading goal even with the arrival of the tiny human at the end of the month.

A good chunk of reading is coming from audiobooks instead of physical books. I’m also focusing on a lot of easier reads mixed in with a lot of parenting books. November is bound to be a very mixed variety.

Total Books “Read” in October - 30
Total Pages “Read” in October - 7,658
Total Books from my shelf - 22

Total books read so far in 2023 - 317/365.

It’s the last day to get my new e-book at a discounted price PLUS all the freebies.

Tomorrow the price goes up and so do all the extras.

Even if you’re not quite ready to embark on your self-publishing journey, buying this book can be step one in the process.
