POV: Someone asks how I’m balancing Dovi Seattle, fittings, clients, designing new pieces, producing the upcoming Trendsetter Fashion Gala… and being a full-time mom. 😂

Me: “I’m very tired all the time.” 😭😂

Between school drop-offs, mom duties, sketches, fabrics, fittings, emails, model rehearsals, production meetings, and preparing for November 14th… somehow we’re still making it fabulous. 👗✨

Four years ago, I designed this piece from my Ritaso Collection using deadstock fabrics, giving forgotten materials a new life through design.

Inspired by the banig, the traditional handwoven mat found in many Filipino homes, this piece carries a deeper meaning for me. A banig is more than something we sleep or sit on. It can hold memories of family gatherings, afternoon naps, children playing, conversations with loved ones, and the simple warmth of being together at home. Its intricate weaving also represents patience, craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and the beauty of Filipino everyday life.

For this design, I reimagined that familiar woven pattern through a contemporary fashion lens, combining Filipino heritage with sustainability and modern couture.

Four years later, I still love what this piece represents: honoring where we come from while creating something new from what already exists.
