Aye Mane, it’s 901 Day! 〽️

For folks from my hometown of Memphis, TN, September 1st is a day to celebrate our culture as it marks our infamous area code - the 901!

Memphis is the backdrop of my life. It’s where I learned how to check in school. Where me and my cousins learned how to ride bikes on the sidewalk at 5 years old. Where I had my first fight in my Grandma’s backyard. Where I first kissed a girl. Where I learned how to hoop. Where my Grandad laid his head after driving 18 wheelers all day. Where my Grandma cussed us out if we left the house without our clothes ironed. Where my Aunt Sha won ‘Best dressed’ off of thrift store clothes. Where my Uncle Bug grinded before being the first in our family to go to college. Where my Mom brushed my hair nonstop to get waves. Where jookin battles happened in after school parking lots. Where Yo Gotti learned he could make 50 off of 3.5. Where people add “er” in the middle of words like music and beautiful.

Glory is built in NYC but it was born in the most bertiful land in the world, Memphis ! Happy 901 Day!
