The Million Year Picnic

10/01/2026

The short story "The Million Year Picnic" by Ray Bradbury was originally set on Mars in October 2026. It's the final story of the collection THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES. (More recent editions have shifted the dates forward 30 years.)

The original founder of the MYP, Jerry Weist, was a huge Bradbury fan.

The comic book adaptation of "The Million Year Picnic" was the first book Jerry bought with his own money when he was a little boy.

In case you don't know our deep lore, Jerry Weist named and founded the Million Year Picnic back in 1974 with Chuck Wooley.
