This Sunday, at The Charles River Speedway The Charles River Speedway you can expect over 100 vendors and artists selling prints, vintage clothing, handmade pottery, one-of-a-kind artwork, textile decorations, vinyl records, and so much more. Also, in collaboration with Allston Pudding Allston Pudding we’ll have 5 (FIVE!) local bands playing music for you. And the best part? It’s FREE. Come hang out, find a new favorite t-shirt, a new trinket for your shelf, a new favorite band. 🪩🥳‼️🤘

Meet our local band lineup for this Sunday!

12pm: Ivy Boy Ivy Boy is the indie folk project of Boston-based singer-songwriter Perry Eaton. Eaton, who has worn many hats within the Boston music scene over the years (from songwriter of indie quartet Beeef to Founding Editor of the storied local music blog Allston Pudding), finds a bit of a different tune with Ivy Boy. Here he takes a more acoustic approach while still maintaining the infectious nature of resonant hooks and pop-tinged melodies.

1pm: Puppy Problems Sami is a group of friends (Sami, Max, Nick, Kaera) making music in Boston, MA. We like to have fun despite what you may think.

2pm: Mozz Mozz is the recording project of Cole Triedman, also known as frontman of Somerville garage country rockers Fortuna 500. Mozz songs are somewhere between freak folk and indie, often touching on themes of dogs, wolves, and canines.

3pm: Slo-anne slo-anne is a Boston-based three piece who blends slacker rock n’ roll with alt-country to create infectious pop earworms.

4pm: Emi McSwain EMI MCSWAIN is a singer-songwriter and content creator in Boston, Massachusetts. After receiving her degree in songwriting from Berklee College of Music in 2022, she took to Instagram to show Boston’s hidden gems and highlight the music scene in the city. Inspired by 90s alternative bands, she approaches complicated topics with an obvious sense of humor.

5pm: Happy Just to See You Happy Just to See You is a Boston and NH based band that makes confessional indie rock that can sometimes exhibit classic warning signs of being a little yeehaw.

Welcome to the whimsical world of crochet created by Maya - Crafts by Papaya 🌻🦔🪩

Owned and operated by Boston-based fiber artist Maya Friedrich, Crafts by Papaya Maya - Crafts by Papaya displays her artistic abilities through crochet, knitting and creating all things cute! Her products range from beaded fidget toys to decorative flower pots to amigurumi animals. She credits her ability to produce large quantities of crochet (and occasionally knit) toys to her ADHD diagnosis that requires her to keep her hands busy at all times.

Stop by her booth this Sunday at The Charles River Speedway for an extra dose of joy, and you may even get to see her crafting in real time!

Discover the intricate details of hand-carved New England landscapes. 🌱🍄🌳

Third Cat Press is the work of Samuel Swap, an illustrator, printmaker and educator from central Connecticut. Specializing in high detail wood engraving prints, Swap depicts the abundance of biodiversity within the New England landscape through lush layers of ink on fine Japanese paper. Swap has worked with institutions like the National Park Service, Massachusetts DCR, and Connecticut River Conservancy to help link people to the love of their landscape, and the biodiversity in their own backyards through art.

Whether you’re looking for new artwork to decorate your home with, or to learn more about the ecosystems in your neighborhood, be sure to stop by Sam’s booth this weekend at The Charles River Speedway.

5 years ago today, we leapt into the unknown. Rent had forced us out of JP, & after a long search for somewhere affordable, we landed in Brighton. Then the pandemic hit, we lost our jobs, & everything felt like it was collapsing. We realized that in the end, none of us are getting out of here alive.

So we left our old lives behind. But we weren’t going to give up on our new home. And we weren’t ready to abandon Boston, however hard it tried to shake us off. Every day, we chose to plant our feet, step forward, & keep carving out a space for the world we wanted to live in.

When we started, many people didn’t see the vision. “Brighton?? Why would anyone want to go there?!?”. But we saw untapped potential in an overlooked area. We came here, & so did you.

This organization is proof that the most astounding things arise from being cornered: what climbs out from within us when there’s no looking back or down, & nothing left to do but go. After a decade in the trenches of DIY arts, & countless lessons learned through vending at other markets, we decided to lead a charge.

Fast-forward to today: 120 Bazaars, over 2,000 different vendors, tens of thousands of dollars supporting poster artists & performers, & hundreds of thousands of customers who’ve spent millions on small local businesses. Now, the efforts of 20+ people go into pulling off one of our events. We’re still designing, building, & repairing this plane in midair as we fly it.

We waited 5 years to introduce ourselves because our events aren’t about us, they’re about all of you! They’re about this community. Our community. Your community.

Why do we do all of this?

To revel in the joy of a vibrant ecosystem. To show how creation & curation are both art. To give thoughtful work a chance to grow & meet its audience. To weave a tapestry of humanity, a day or two at a time. To make & hold space for each other. To bridge the chasms between us.

On Day One, we asked you all to vote with your feet, & you came along for the ride. Thank you, fellow travelers. May the road rise to meet you. We’ll see you at the next one, or maybe on the other side. Life is short, but art endures.

🌧️ SUNDAY, SEPT. 20 BAZAAR CANCELLED

Unfortunately, due to the weather forecast for Sunday, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel the September 20 portion of our 5th Anniversary Bazaar at Allstonway

We’re sad to lose the second day of this special weekend, but with heavy rain expected throughout market hours, we don’t want to put vendors or customers through a wet and miserable market.

💛 A huge thank you to everyone who came out Saturday to celebrate 5 years of The Brighton Bazaar with us, and to all of the vendors, staff, partners, and friends who helped bring our first market at Allstonway to life!

To anyone who was planning to join us Sunday, we’re sorry we won’t get to see you this time…

🎸🎪 But you’ll have an opportunity to see us again soon! The Big Gig returns to The Charles River Speedway on Sunday, October 4 for its Fall Edition: a full day of live music, local vendors, food, drinks & more. Details coming soon!
