MEGO mail call with Evel Knievel Ali and Baby Dolls?

We won an auction last week and showed up today with this nice lot of vintage action figures. We see alot of vintage toy lots online but this one including some baby and other drug store dolls with the listing. Some of them are pretty cool but some we had to toss because their plastic was melted so bad it was too far gone.

The only bad part about this lot is the Human Torch is missing a lower leg but we may have a extra in our MEGO parts box otherwise all the other MEGOs we should be able to clean up. Again this lot is purely for our shows and loose action figures are a big seller for us.

Yard Sale Media Score

Quick yard sales score today with some nice titles including a good copy of TMNT2 on VHS.

We have always had a soft spot for Highway to Heaven so why not grab the entire season and the Jesus and Chet Atkins DVDs are a little hard to come by.

Big Jim Mattel Commercial 1973

Before action figures became all about superheroes, Mattel gave us Big Jim, produced from 1972 through 1986.

Inspired by G.I. Joe but smaller and less military focused, Big Jim was part secret agent, part adventurer, and ready for almost anything. Sports, camping, fishing, martial arts, space exploration, hunting and more. Plus, that famous karate chop action!

In 1975, Mattel introduced the P.A.C.K., short for Professional Agents, Crime Killers. With its howling wolf logo and artwork by legendary comic artist Jack Kirby, the P.A.C.K. turned Big Jim into the leader of a team of crime fighting adventurers.

And who remembers the Sports Camper? One of the coolest vehicles in the entire Big Jim line!

The Tulare Parks and Recreation Department has created a “portal” to Halloween Land so fans can communicate with Skellington.

Jack Skellington wants to hear from his fans this Halloween! Send him a letter to let him know what you’re dressing up as, what you like to do for Halloween, or even if it’s just to say hello—and then Jack will write you back!

Letters should be mailed by Oct. 16 and addressed to Jack Skellington, C/O Tulare Parks & Recreation, 830 S. Blackstone Street, Tulare, CA 93274. Those wanting to hear back are asked to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope inside.

FLIP! CBS 1988 Saturday Morning Show Intro

Before the internet, before YouTube, and before every kid had a screen in their pocket, Saturday mornings were a different kind of magic.

In 1988, FLIP! brought a wild mix of cartoons, comedy, music, games, and kid-friendly entertainment to television. It was colorful, loud, fast, and exactly the kind of show that could keep you glued to the TV while breakfast sat getting cold in the kitchen.

For kids growing up in the late 80s, shows like FLIP! were more than something to watch. They were part of the weekend routine. You watched the commercials, memorized the promos, and hoped the next segment would feature something you really wanted to see.

It was a time when Saturday morning television felt like an event.

1983 The Biskitts Hanna-Barbera Productions Intro

If you were watching Saturday morning cartoons in 1983, you might remember this wonderfully bizarre little Hanna-Barbera series about a group of tiny dogs living on Biskitt Island.

The Biskitts weren't just hanging around the castle. They were the guardians of the royal treasure, protecting the crown jewels while helping the less fortunate inhabitants of the island. Basically, Robin Hood... but with dogs.

Their biggest problem was King Max, the greedy younger brother of the late king, who was constantly plotting to steal the royal treasure with the help of his hench-hounds, Fang and Snarl, and his jester, Shecky.

And then there was Scratch, a giant wildcat who was always looking for a Biskitt-sized snack.

The series only lasted one season on CBS, with just 13 episodes produced. Like so many Saturday morning cartoons from the era, though, The Biskitts found a second life in reruns and even aired on the Armed Forces Network, reaching kids of American servicemen stationed overseas.

And if you remember White Castle Castle Meals, you might remember the Biskitts showing up there too. The meal boxes featured Biskitts-themed games and activities that could actually be assembled from the packaging.

That's one of the things I love about 1980s cartoons. They weren't just shows. They somehow ended up everywhere. Cereal boxes, fast food promotions, toys, coloring books, lunchboxes and all kinds of strange collectibles.

The Biskitts may have only lasted 13 episodes, but for those of us who remember them, they're another little piece of the Saturday morning time capsule.

Warner Archive released The Biskitts – The Complete Series on DVDas part of their Hanna-Barbera Classic Collection, it retails for about $25.

THE MVP's have arrived

This week we have had a huge mail call of PSA graded MLB MVPs.

This week we pulled in some legends including the man, Zoilo Versalles who started us on this collection. Zoilo Versalles won the AL 1965 MVP and never made an all star game or play in the playoffs after that. Ken Boyer and Jeff Burroughs also had a big year but never came close to winning which for some odd reason is so interesting to us. Other names like Mattingly, Keith Hernandez, Joe Morgan and Elston Howard all had other votes and All Star games with playoff success after winning their MVP.

We have a few more coming so stay tuned including Keith Hernandez's co winner that also won the world series.
