Kēkii. NEEDLE FELTED STUFF AND OTHER STUFF

After a long break, I am back…something akin to a shriveled husk, but trying to start creating again.

There was a point this summer where making things stopped being fun. I was upset with my creations all the time, and myself.

AL is very good at pointing things out to me when I don’t notice that something is wrong. I find it hard to see myself when I am going nonstop all of the time. The last half year was a whirlwind of making, stocking, posting, prepping, teaching…meanwhile little bits of my creative energy were gradually getting used up until making felt exhaustive and agonizing. A good friend pointed out that my studio was a physical manifestation of what was going on in my brain. Everything was lost in a pile, which was then ignored while I found myself unable to deal with it, and the less I dealt with it, the worse it became. By trying to accomplish too much, I was losing the joy of making.

BUT! This has happened to me before, and will happen again. Now that I am through the most difficult part of my year, I can appreciate everything that I did. I got a new job at my favorite community education program, I did my first Renfaire, and I supported myself solely through my art for a year and a half. I got to make so many cool things that you guys enjoyed, and meet so many new people. I will never give up!!

I am FINALLY able to revisit my commissions list. Thank you SO much for your patience while I navigate the chaos that was my life. Everyone has been so kind and understanding. I should have taken a break on commissions while all this was going on, but I have a hard time saying no to people. I love that you love my art, and I want everyone to be happy, and I am really excited to finally get these out for you.

Too tired to think of what to say, and the video was so peaceful without me talking, so I’ll shut up for this one. 🐟🌊🪣

Thank you all so much for having me at my first The Maine Renaissance Faire !! After many months of preparation it’s over and I’m actually so sad about it. What a well run show, with incredible performances and amazing craftspeople. I can confidently say this is the most fun market I’ve ever done. It was a real honor and I hope I have the great privilege of coming back next year.

Thank you most of all to the people who used their hard earned money to support me, bought a wool hat in the height of summer, entertained me with their presence, and appreciated my artwork. And the organizers who make this possible (as well as the vendors who were so so kind to me). It really was magic! 🦄🪄✨

Here are just a few of my customers over the weekend. Words cannot express how much I loved meeting you and sharing my work with you. Xx THANK YOU 🙏

Struggling to keep up on here. This was from the 4th of July. Trying to have fun but also working. As I was blocking these hats and realized I matched my respirator. Watch me squeeeeze beetlejuice onto these hats in an amusing way.
Okay BYE 💕🪲

Wow, it’s been a while but Bluet is done - and he is already SOLD! Thank you 💕

I have been going through big transition recently, as well and preparing for Maine Ren and my usual camp programming…I got a new job in community education, and I am so grateful for this new chapter! I’m really looking forward to everything that it will bring. And the best part is, I’ll have even more time to make art!

Seems appropriate to post a flower in honor of my growth, in this art form and in life. Cheers! 🍻

Plushies I have made this week! I made the pattern for the flail!! It’s super functional - thanks to AL (not AI) for helping me. Someone has to have ingenuity in this house!!

The mimics are a labor of love…just two took me almost two full workdays. If you’re lucky enough to ever get one, they will be very limited or I’d probably go crazy. These two were definitely easier than the first. Much respect to the real plushie artists out there. It is hard and frustrating work!

I also made 20 hats lol. Pics soon?! Maybe!!

I know this is NOT the ideal Instagram post. HIGH quality images, eye catching motifs, personable photos, interesting captions, blah blah blah.

This is my LIFE. It is a mess. Everything is a pile. Heaps of what I like to call “creative fervor”. If you come to visit, you will never want of feet (or legs) because walking is impossible.

So let me LIVE, dear INSTAGRAM ! Without you LOOMING over my shoulder - WHISPERING IN YOUR DEMONIC VOICE “*horking and snorting* you should post two posts and one reel a week to increase your reach!! *hissssssssss* “ 👹🐍

BACK! Vile beast! Don’t you know I am MAKING THINGS for ?!? How am I supposed to post THREE TIMES A WEEK!? Maybe I should pay for an advertissmint! Will you be needing two, or three (3) chunks of my soul this time?

To all of my lovely followers - thank you for being here and supporting me! I am STILL HERE!! I am just busy. Here are some peeks of stuff I’m working on for Maine Ren. I am so excited to see you in July.

Love ya! 🩷🍃🎩

Hi I made these nuts and rocks and plants. Here they are for your enjoyment. Available at only (week 2) for now (sry). 🌱🌰🤘

Apparently my vit D is super low which is why I’ve been tired. I am stuck inside making outside things. Basically dying. Whatever! 🌞🕶️

I sew this forest floor spirits pattern by and I thought wow this would be a great quick project…oh but maybe I’ll needle felt the faces to make them a bit more expressive. Two days later…I only made five. Bc of the goddamn faces lol.

But they are DUMMY THICC. Hard to pick a favorite but today I’m 3!! I have had my D supplement and I am ready!! 💪😤🌱 For what? Don’t know. Okie bye 👋🏻 ✌🏻

I’m so excited to show you guys my little Treeple! I’ve always found traditional gnomes sort of ugly - if you’ve been following me for a while you may have heard me mention this before. I also love the way clay looks but I really don’t enjoy sculpting with it. It stresses me out. So i decided to tackle both of these things and incorporate them into the creation of the Treeple. I’ve been wanting to create my own version of a forest spirit, and I also wanted to ease into clay faces. I needed something simple enough that I could make in under four hours, but variable enough to make in many different shapes and sizes.

And thus the Treeple were born. I even sketched my idea (something I never do). You can see the coffee covered sketch in the last photo. ☕️

These guys are pollinators - nut and seed farmers. Oakley is green, and Spinelli is red.

I have been creatively constipated 💩 which happens when I have something big and stressful to prep for. When the ideas should be flowing, and I’m running out of time, nothing comes out…maybe when this happens, I can crap out another Treeple 💀🤣😭 Problem solved!!
