📚MADDIE’S AUGUST NONFICTION BOOK REVIEW ✨
This is the post where I tell you my opinions whether you like it or not 😆
(NO SPOILERS ARE IN THIS REVIEW)
The Art Thief by Michael Finkel
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What I liked:
👏TRUE CRIME! I typically am always down for a good true crime novel, BUT I can’t say that I’ve ever read one that didn’t involve murder prior to this. It was a nice change of pace from the typical gore or true crime.
✨THE STATISTICS! The amount of items this man/woman duo were able to walk out of a museum with multiple artifacts is honestly quite impressive. You think it is getting crazy and then the next chapter, they would do something even more insane. The stats of how much they stole by the end of the book were jaw-dropping.
📚 THE PSYCHOLOGY! I appreciated the snippets of interviews and court reviews of Stephane’s mental state. He truly is not like any other criminal and steals purely for his enjoyment of the art.
What I didn’t care for:
🫣 Although this was a very interesting story, I would say it was easier to set down and forget about. It’s not exactly a fast-paced read, but I don’t ever expect nonfiction to be. Maybe this isn’t much of a negative aspect at all 😆
Can’t wait to see what you thought of this at book club! See you on September 22nd @ 7pm 😘
