Montgomery Man Arrested Following Sheriff’s Office Investigation

Nineteen-year-old Finnegan Murray, of Montgomery, is facing charges following an investigation led by investigators with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

On January 29th, 2026, Kendall County Sheriff’s Detectives received information that led investigators to initiate an investigation. As the investigation progressed, a search warrant was obtained, and additional evidence was recovered.

Following a review of the facts and circumstances by the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office, an arrest warrant was issued for 4 counts of Child Po*******hy (each is a Class 2 Felony) and 2 counts of Child Sexual Abuse Material (each is a Class 2 Felony).

Murray was taken into custody without incident on August 6th, 2026, by members of the Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force. Murray was transported to the Kendall County Jail for processing.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind community members to call Crime Stoppers at 630-553-5999 to report any information regarding a fugitive’s whereabouts. Callers remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward if the information leads to the apprehension of a fugitive. You may also visit the Kendall County Facebook “Fugitive Fridays” for the fugitive of the week.

🚦 New Temporary Traffic Signal Now Active at Wolfs Crossing & Fifth Street

A new temporary traffic signal is now in operation at the intersection of Wolfs Crossing and Fifth Street.

The temporary signals were installed by the Sonoma Trails developer in accordance with the annexation agreement, which requires a traffic signal once the south leg of the intersection opens.

The signals are now in place ahead of the school year to give residents, parents and school bus drivers time to become familiar with the updated traffic pattern before classes begin.

These temporary signals will remain in place until the long-term traffic signals can be installed on span wires.

Please use caution when traveling through the intersection and watch for the new traffic pattern.

Following a 15-month investigation by the Oswego Police Department, a Montgomery woman has been arrested on an arrest warrant stemming from a fraud investigation involving the alleged financial exploitation of a vulnerable adult. Read the full news release below for additional details.

Arrestee: BERGER, Tiffany L, 43 YOA, 700 block of Oakton Rd, Montgomery
Charges: Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person (Class 3 Felony); Financial Exploitation of a Person with a Disability (Class 3 Felony); Theft X4 (Class 3 Felony); Unlawful Use of a Credit Card X2 (Class 4 Felony)

As a result of a 15-month investigation by the Oswego Police Department, a Montgomery woman has been arrested on an arrest warrant stemming from a fraud investigation. Tiffany L. BERGER was taken into custody on the warrant on August 5, 2026, by the Montgomery Police Department.

In February 2025, the Oswego Police Department received a report alleging that Berger, a caregiver for a 66-year-old legally blind woman, had fraudulently used the victim’s debit and credit cards between September and November 2024 during the course of her employment. Detectives conducted an extensive investigation, reviewing numerous financial records obtained through subpoenas. The investigation determined that approximately $3,500 in unauthorized charges were made.

On May 5, 2026, after reviewing the investigation, the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office approved eight felony counts against Berger and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On August 5, 2026, the Montgomery Police Department served the warrant on Berger and took her into custody. Berger had a court date scheduled for August 6, 2026.

CHICAGO – Illinois State Police (ISP) Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 1 Special Agents arrested 29-year-old Juan Ruiz Huerta of Aurora, IL, for three counts of First-Degree Murder (Class M Felony), Aggravated Battery – Deadly Weapon Not a Firearm (Class 3 Felony), Kidnapping (Class 2 Felony), and Unlawful Restraint (Class 4 Felony), after a fatal crash on I-94.

On July 31, 2026, around 5:50 p.m., Ruiz Huerta was driving northbound on I-94 with a passenger, 28-year-old Victory A. Swanigan of Chicago, when a verbal altercation occurred between the two. Ruiz Huerta turned the vehicle around and began driving at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction, heading south into the northbound express lanes. Near 53rd Street, Ruiz Huerta’s vehicle struck another car, resulting in fatal injury to Swanigan. Both Ruiz Huerta and the other driver were both transported to area hospitals with injuries.

After a thorough and extensive investigation, ISP presented the case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the above-mentioned charges were filed. Ruiz Huerta was transported to the Riverdale Police Department and is being held pending his first court appearance. There is no further information available at this time.
