Okkkk here we go. After a lot of reflection, we’ve made the decision to close Treehouse this spring. There are a lot of emotions wrapped up in this decision, and it wasn’t made lightly. This comes after nearly a year of hard conversations, pivoting, restructuring, moving, and exhausting all of our efforts.
It’s difficult to summarize the reasons for closing in a few paragraphs. Some of it is out of our control, and some of it is completely up to us. We knew this wouldn’t be an easy feat and we’ve poured every ounce of ourselves into the business. To be transparent, we’re exhausted, overworked, burnt out, and haven’t been paying ourselves. Running a brick-and-mortar shop is no longer sustainable for us.
Treehouse has always been focused on creating inclusive, meaningful community through bikes and supporting the small brands we love. None of that has changed! The support we’ve received over the last few years has meant more than we can ever say. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. Since we opened, we’ve watched our local bike scene grow in big ways, and being part of that shift has meant everything to us.
What’s next? TBH we’re not sure. We don’t see this as the end of Treehouse, just a shift. We hope to eventually get back to supporting the bike community through events, rides, and workshops. For now, we’re pausing, resetting, and figuring out what the future holds.
In the meantime:
– We’ll continue operating the shop and are actively looking for someone to take over the space (if you/someone you know is interested, reach out)
– All active custom builds will continue as planned and we’re open to discussing new builds using frames we currently have available
– Service will wrap up at the end of February
- We’ll continue selling inventory as we transition out of the space
– Our gear library will remain available (more details soon)
How can you help? We’re not closed yet! Come buy a bike. Build up a frame. Get the bike bag you’ve been thinking about. Get a tune-up. Stock up on tubes and l**e. Snag Treehouse merch. Come say hi and give us a hug. All of it helps support us in this final chapter.
We love you. Support your local bike shops.
