A friend gave me a bucket of old horseshoes. I decided to have a little fun and create something different. I did a rope twist on the railroad spikes.

This week I finished up another order for Gator the chef/cast/ crew from and #1883. This is the second order I have done for him and as always he is a pleasure to work with!

The knives are from 5160 high carbon steel and heat treated to a Rockwell hardness of 57. I finished each blade with hand filed Spanish notches and a brass finger guard in order to make them authentic “cowboy fighting knives”. They are 3/4 tang and epoxied and pinned 3x for extra durability.

I am humbled to say I am now forging blades for the cast and crew of 1883. Gator who was in the Yellowstone series discovered my work in Stephanos art galery in Virginia city Montana. I forged cleavers and a few cowboy fighter style knives. The cowboy knives are hand forged with my anvil and grandfathers 3 pound hammer. 3/4 taing , pinned 3 times and epoxyed through solid elk antler. They enjoyed the so much I need to forge 10 more.

My wife hooked me up with some projects for the nursery. I lit my forge and worked my hammer and anvil. This is what I came up with.

It has been a long time since I have posted anything. I have been very busy with life. I recently got some custom orders for some cleavers. It feels good to sweat on my anvil again!
