Bourne Youth Council has been serving our community since 1994; after a brief shutdown w/ covid BYC relaunched.
We are currently organized as a 501(c)(4), and as we look toward the future, we are working toward establishing a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
And with this new chapter comes an opportunity to rethink something pretty important…OUR NAME!
We’ve heard some really valuable feedback about the name “Bourne Youth Council.”
First — “Bourne.”
Some people assume that you have to attend Bourne Public Schools or live in a certain part of town to participate.
That has NEVER been our intention.
Public school? Private school? Homeschool? From Bourne or a neighboring community? If you want to volunteer, participate, help your community, or simply be part of something positive — you are welcome here.
Second — “Youth.”
While supporting youth will always be an important part of what we do, we’ve realized that our mission has grown far beyond youth programming.
We serve the COMMUNITY.
Children. Teens. Adults. Seniors. Families. Individuals.
Regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, background or economic status, our goal is to create opportunities that bring people together and make our community a little better.
Right now, we fundraise throughout the year so that we can provide FREE or donation-based community experiences such as the Kindness Festival, Thriller Flash Mob, town-wide Easter Egg Hunt and other events.
But we want to do MORE.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!
Help us rename Bourne Youth Council for this next chapter.
We need a name that represents:
Community
Kindness
Connection
Inclusion
Giving back
ALL generations
Neighbors helping neighbors

There are no bad ideas — sometimes one suggestion sparks another. We want the community we serve to have a voice in who we become. 💜
