💿 KORNDOG QUESTION OF THE WEEK 💿
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately because GhostKernel keeps throwing music at me that I never would've gone looking for on my own.
And that s**t is one of my favorite feelings in music.

You hear something you've never heard before and within about 30 seconds your brain goes:
“Hold the f**k up... what is THIS?” 😂🎧

Then you're checking out the album.
Then the rest of the catalog.
Then you're looking to see if it's on vinyl.
And suddenly the innocent little song you heard three hours ago has cost you $40 and sent you down another damn rabbit hole. 😂💸💿

So this week's question:
What was the LAST artist you discovered that completely caught you off guard?
Not somebody you've listened to forever.
I mean somebody you genuinely didn't know, heard one song, and immediately needed more.

Mine have been coming at me pretty damn regularly lately, and that's reminded me of something:
We're never too old to find our next favorite band.

🎧 KORNDOG STREAMING — TODAY'S RABBIT HOLE

This is exactly why I still love digging for music.

Today GhostKernel threw Elijah — “Grip” at me and I stopped what I was doing.

Not because somebody told me it was trending.

Not because an algorithm decided I needed to hear the same damn 20 artists again.

It just caught my ear.

Then I started paying attention to what he was saying and... yeah.

Sometimes you find a song at exactly the right damn time.

That's what I'm chasing with KornDog Streaming.

The records will always be the heart of KornDog Records. 💿

But sometimes it starts with one random stream that hits hard enough to make me say...

Yeah. I need this s**t on vinyl. 😂

And if my weird-ass music taste happens to send somebody else down a rabbit hole along the way?

KORNDOG QUESTION OF THE WEEK

Well... we're back. 😂

I took a week off for vacation, and somewhere along the way life decided I needed another reminder that sometimes the collection has to take one for the team.

I ended up selling about half of my personal record collection so we could get another vehicle.

Did it hurt?

You're damn right it did. 😂💔💿

But it got me thinking...

Every collector has records they'd sell if they absolutely had to.

Then there are THOSE records.

🔥 So here's this week's question:

If life forced you to sell your entire record collection except for FIVE albums... what five are you keeping?

Not necessarily the five worth the most money.

I'm talking about the five you look at and say:

“Nope. These bastards are staying with me.”

There's a difference between a great album... and a perfect album.
A great album might have a few songs you skip.
A perfect album? You drop the needle on Side A and don't touch it again until it's over.

🎧 What's one album you never skip a single track on?

For me, those are the albums that remind me why I started collecting vinyl in the first place. They don't just play in the background. They become part of your day.

My cousin took me to this tour with Motley Crue and at 10 yrs old it was the greatest experience of my life to that point 🤘🏻

This is the kind of piece that makes you stop and admire it before the needle even drops.
Then you spin it anyway, because records were made to live.

🎶 Vinyl Therapy Wednesday 💚💜

This little record player is where it all started.
My parents got it for me when I was a kid, and I found a stack of old 45s. For whatever reason, "Sad Eyes" by Robert John became my song. I'd play it, flip it over, and play it again.

As the years went by, the music industry kept moving.
Records became tapes.
Tapes became CDs.
CDs became downloads.
Downloads became streaming.
Like most people, I followed along because that's where the music went.

But somewhere along the way, I realized I hadn't stopped loving music...
I'd just drifted away from the way I first fell in love with it.
Over 40 years later, I found my way back to vinyl.
And I didn't just rediscover records.
I rediscovered the experience.

Pulling an album from its sleeve.
Looking at the artwork.
Reading the liner notes.
Dropping the needle.
Sitting down and giving the music my full attention.

That's why I call it Vinyl Therapy.
Not because vinyl is the only way to enjoy music.
But because it brought me back to myself.
Looking back, I don't think I found vinyl again...
I found that little kid sitting in front of this record player.
And honestly...
That was the therapy I didn't know I needed.
