Harvest season is here! 🍎🍅🌿

Raspberries, apples, tomatoes, zucchini... the garden is giving us plenty to enjoy. And while you’re gathering this year’s harvest, it’s also the perfect time to think about what you’d love to see growing in your garden next year.

Fall is a wonderful time to plant, and we still have trees, shrubs and perennials ready to find their homes before the season ends.

Come wander the nursery while you still can, enjoy the season and plant a little something for next year.

Summer may be winding down, but the garden is still giving! 🍅🌿

It’s tomato and borage season, harvests are coming in, and fall planting is in full swing. Cooler temperatures make this a wonderful time to plant trees, shrubs and perennials, giving roots time to settle in before next season.

Give them a good bed of soil, plenty of water and a little time to get comfortable. Then let nature do the rest.

Come enjoy the colors, the harvest and the last beautiful stretch of the growing season with us!

Hydrangeas in the wild! (Azores).
We have 2 remaining Diamond Rouge hydrangeas and a bunch of Tiny Quick Fire (dwarf hydrangeas). These panicle hydrangeas are hardy woody shrubs in Bozeman whose flower heads stay on for “winter interest”. They like a little shade but can take some sun also. We are preparing to put everything to bed for the winter, but we are not quite done yet. Come get your hardy hydrangeas while they last!

Calendula season is here! 🌼☀️

These cheerful golden blooms are one of our favorite signs of late summer turning to fall. Bright, abundant and beautifully useful, calendula brings a little sunshine to the garden right when we need it most.

Catmint! 🌿💜

Looking for a perennial that can handle a Montana winter? Nepeta, also known as catmint, can overwinter right in the ground or in pots!

With its soft foliage and beautiful blooms, it’s an easy addition to garden beds, borders and containers, and one you can enjoy again next season.

Plant now, enjoy later. 🌱

The season is winding down 🍂

The days are getting shorter, the mornings are getting cooler, and another beautiful growing season at Hillside Nursery is nearly in the books.

But there’s still time to plant! Fall’s cooler temperatures and warm soil give trees, shrubs and perennials a wonderful opportunity to establish roots before winter.

Stop by while we’re still open, wander the nursery, find something you love, and get it in the ground before the season comes to a close.

Plant now. Thank yourself in spring. 🌱

The colors are changing! 🍂

And Ohio Buckeye ‘Early Glow’ (Aesculus glabra) is one of the first to put on a show. Its foliage turns brilliant shades of glowing orange and red in early autumn, bringing a beautiful burst of color to the landscape.

With a naturally uniform branching structure and large white spring blossoms that pollinators love, this is a tree that earns its place in the garden through more than one season.

We have Aesculus glabra available now at Hillside Nursery, but the season is winding down!

🌿 Open Tuesday–Saturday, 9–5 through the end of September.

Come see us soon and enjoy a little fall color while you’re here! 🍁

Fall is for planting. 🍂

Cooler days don’t mean the gardening season is over. In fact, fall can be one of the best times to plant in Montana.

Cooler temperatures mean less stress on newly planted trees, shrubs and perennials, while the soil is still warm enough for roots to begin establishing before winter. That head start can make a big difference when spring arrives.

Stop by Hillside Nursery and let us help you choose plants that will thrive in your space, or talk with us about planning ahead for next season.

There’s still plenty of growing season left. 🌿
