I was extremely disappointed and saddened to hear the Dr. Eileen Ryce felt she needed to resign as head Fish Chief for the Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks today. After finding no fault on her part and being offered her position back- the amount of damage the was done in the way in which FWP handled their investigation, she simply felt she would not be able to continue working in that environment. Montana has lost a truly great biologist and champion for our rivers and streams.

In speaking with her, I know she was deeply hurt by the feeling of abandonment she had from both Montana Trout Unlimited and the Fishing Outfitters Association of Montana, two organizations that she strongly supported and helped out immensely. It is a gut punch to know that both organizations weren’t there by her side as she was for them so many times.

Great to help out Montana's rivers.

As the state’s population booms and its politics shift, proposed federal legislation would safeguard hundreds of miles of iconic waterways.

If you are wanting to help small businesses this year, a gift certificate to TroutChasers lodge is always availble!

Just like every trout has their own unique spot pattern, every season has it's own unique details. With the last few days before Thanksgiving, we pause to look back on one of the craziest years we have seen in our 17th year with TroutChasers Lodge.

We are beyond thankful for all of our family, friends and guests that have helped us weather the storm that Covid-19 has bestowed upon the world we live in. The divisiveness that we see on nearly all issues facing us as a society can be overwhelming and finding hope for solutions seems like an impossibility at times. We often take for granted that no matter far we are pushed down, our inate human spirit to dig deep and keep pushing forward is within us all. That spirit is what will hopefully bring us together with a common goal to get better as a society.

We were not sure if we would even see a 2020 season at TroutChasers, but much like trying to walk across a pond that doesn't have much ice, with a few scary moments, we made it across the ice and through 2020.

Our hearts go out to the hundreds of thousands of people that will go through this holiday season without loved ones who paid the highest price to Covid-19. And as we go through life under new rules and guidelines to try and help protect those in our community who's bodies may not have the same ability to fight as ours, we are beyond thankful that a vaccine is poised for distribution.

We hope 2021 will deliver a season that resembles life before Covid-19. Enjoy the time with your loved ones, in whatever fashion you can, and know that we will be readily awaiting your visit!

Happy Thanksgiving from Jason, Julie, Annalise, Isabelle and Gus!

Great to have Senator Tester introduce the Montana Headwaters Legacy Act along the banks of the Gallatin at our lodge today!

Proud to join folks on the banks of the Gallatin to introduce the Montana Headwaters Legacy Act, the largest Wild and Scenic designation in nearly 45 years. Together, we are protecting hundreds of miles of rivers across Montana from short-sighted special interests. This critical bill will ensure our kids and grandkids can still cast a line in the Smith or take a float down the Madison with the confidence that these waters will stay pristine and free-flowing for generations to come.

Just say "NO" to Rest and Rotation............... it will lead to further conflict by reducing the amount of accessible water for the general public who choose to utilize the services of guides and outfitters.

Please help out and provide your comments to FWP (link in post) by October 30!

Say NO to having your access to the Madison River limited.

Join us in supporting equal access to rivers and resources and oppose Rest and Rotation that places limits on boat access to the Madison River.

Please voice your opinion and tell the Montana Fish and Wildlife Commission to NOT implement Rest and Rotation. It penalizes anglers by restricting and limiting their ability to fish on the Madison River with a guide or outfitter.

Also, please tell the Commission that the Madison River should not be privatized through elimination of boats and other watercraft as a mode for access on the 13.2 miles of the Madison from Quake Lake to Lyons bridge.

Email comments to [email protected] by October 30th. Oppose Rest and Rotation and any limitation on boats for access to the Madison River.
