It’a time for Pizza with Pizzo! Check out what books local cartoonist, Anthony Pizzo, is loving while we check out this week’s pizza special (Shann’s favorite Margherita)!
Cult-De-Sac (Ignition Press): Moving is stressful under even the best circumstances, never mind when supernatural shenanigans are afoot, but that’s exactly what the Hanson family have stumbled into. Strange things in the woods and hostile neighbors bedevil them at every turn, and it’s only the first issue, so you know it’s just gonna get worse from here!
Roar of the Worlds (IDW): Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theatre has been consistently great, deftly weaving Godzilla into the worlds of classic literature. This time, though, it’s the other way around, moving H.G. Wells’s classic to turn-of-the-century Japan. It’s a surprisingly serious-minded adaptation that gives a great work a fresh perspective.
Yumi: 00-Ex (Image): Doug Wagner is back with another hilarious adventure of an unhinged misfit, in this case a woman with an MI6 boyfriend who’s gone missing. With the help of a semi-sentient robot car, she’s going to do whatever it takes to find him, with maximum mayhem, of course.
The Dogsitter (Ignition Press): Gemma is having a tough time of late, trying to earn enough money to go back to school to finish her veterinary degree, so it’s only natural she’d blow off a little steam with a cute guy she met at a party. But that casual encounter has quickly proven to be anything but casual, and anything but simple. This book is a hilarious, charming reminder that comic books could do with a little more romance on the shelves!
Seven Wives (IDW): IDW Crime’s debut series comes to a haunting close, and it’s the kind of thorny Noir finale that befits a muder mystery set inside the insular and oppressive world of an extreme religious sect. Pick up all three issues of this sinister mystery today!
Grab a slice and a pile of books and enjoy!
