Ok hear me out.
There are two camps over the issue of VIFP system.
Camp 1 is I want rewards for the money I will spend in the future. Ok got that.
Camp 2 is I want to be recognized for the money I has spent in the past. Ok got that.
I think the thing that has set people off the most is you will lose your status if you don’t purchase enough through out the year to keep your status.
If Carnival would have said if you earn it you keep it most people would have sailed on by.
I like the idea of camp 1 but I learn towards camp 2 because…..
I just paid $3200 yesterday for my 25th cruise with Carnival in October.
Now let’s do the math for all the new cruisers out there. If my average cruise cost was $2500 x 25 cruises = $62,500 plus another $50,000 for drink packages, excursions, flights, hotel rooms before the cruise, etc…
That equals $112,500 that I have spent to sail with carnival. I know people who have been on 100’s of cruises and have spent a lot more than me.
Don’t we deserve a little recognition?
So here is my idea for carnival.
Start a rewards program in addition to the current VIFP program. Maybe give back 1.5% on bookings, other purchases made using a non carnival from of payment. Then give 3% rewards carnival credit card.
I would use the picture as a guide from the new tier levels I created.
I would use the same time frame as they have now and lock in the old VIFP levels. This way you have 3 years to reach the next levels before sail days change. Once you reach that next level you keep it with out fear of losing it. Now as far as perks inside of those levels could be adjusted. I might post perks in each level in the comments.
If Carnival would have done something like this yesterday people like me would have been looking to book more cruises rather than looking at other cruise lines for our next cruise.
What do you think?
Sorry for the long post.
