37 years ago: August 27, 1989 we said
“I do!” ❤️
When I moved to Atlanta for college, I was expecting a degree~ unbeknownst to me, a husband was coming with it. 😉
That first weekend, Ethan introduced me to Echo & the Bunnymen, beginning with “Lips Like Sugar.” Then he wrote his name and number on the back of their self-titled cassette:
“Please call me.”
I still have the cassette.
And I still have Ethan. ❤️
Some things haven’t changed.
We still disappear into the woods for primitive camping. 🏕️
We still travel for concerts — next up, Brigitte Calls Me Baby in October. 🎶
We still seek out art. 🖼️
And after more than two decades as booksellers, we still buy books for ourselves. 📚
This year’s anniversary gifts are pretty much the definition of us:
A beautiful Tolkien Myths & Legends collection.
And a bronze “Thinking Man,” now living at Broad Street Books and officially part of our I Spy Treasure Hunt.

Since 2003, we’ve handled roughly 2½ million books.
That’s a lot of stories passing through our hands.
And somehow, we still get excited when we discover titles we want to keep.
Books have been woven into our life from the beginning — alongside music, art, camping, raising our three sons, traveling, and staying curious about the world.
After 37 years, we’re still learning, still exploring, still laughing at the unexpected turns, and most importantly, still choosing each other.
Happy 37th, Ethan. ❤️
Here’s to everything we’ve built, everything we’ve discovered, and all the chapters still ahead.
