I am so very excited about these new yarns from Isageryarn Merilin is an 80% wool/20% linen fi*****ng weight yarn that is unexpectedly soft. Alpaca 3 (swipe through to see) is an I-cord yarn that is 50% wool/50% alpaca. Both work well on their own or held with other yarns. I’m hoping to bring more Isager yarns in over the coming months!

We are looking for a reliable person who loves fiber arts to run the front of the shop on Saturdays while Allyson teaches. If you're looking for a very part time job that comes with a discount on yarn and fabric, you might be that person!

You should have experience with fiber arts, whether you knit, crochet, weave, sew, spin, or all of the above. Experience in a retail environment is a plus, but it's more important that you be knowledgeable about fiber arts and be comfortable learning about our inventory and helping customers.

Pay starts at $15/hr and is commensurate with experience. Position includes a staff discount on fabric and yarn. More hours may be available from time to time, usually on weekends.

Email us at info(at)bobbinandskein.com with some information about you and your experience. Photos of your crafts are always welcome, as are fun facts about fiber art history.

There are several slots available in the Cross-Back Apron workshop on Saturday! This project is appropriate for beginners, though it's best if you have some experience with a sewing machine. Skills covered include: positioning a patternon-grain, transferring markings from the pattern, and using bias strips and facing.

And just in time for the workshop, new canvas from Art Gallery Fabrics! (Swipe through to see it.)

This vintage-feeling plaid from fableism supply co was crying out for a vintage-feeling pattern, and this view of the Fiore Skirt from Closet Core Patterns was perfect. Buttons from Matchy Matchy Sewing Club.

This was a fun sew, and the pattern instructions were really comprehensive. I was making this for the mannequin, so it’s a little too small on me, but the sizing is on point.

We are busy gearing up for the shop hop - a couple big boxes of yarn just came in today, among other goodies. And we are thrilled to be hosting a trunk show of indie dyers of color with Tian Connaughton, starting August 8. We still have a handful of bags for passport purchasers, so pop on in to grab one!

I just saw this photo and had to share, because I love learning about the history of where I live.

Looking North up Main Street, 1866. I thought the peaked roof of the shop’s building was in this photo but I have been corrected. Always more to
Learn.

A large fire in 1869 destroyed the entire West side of Main Street between Elliot and High Streets.

I'm now tempted to see if I can find photographs of fashion in Brattleboro from this period, or a record of a shop selling fabric. A trip to the library is clearly in order.
