Bridgeport Fish Report - Aug. 02, 2026

East Walker River
The flows on the East are at 181 today. It's been very warm here and the water temps are getting high enough that it's really not good for the fish to be fishing for much of the day. We're advising anglers to limit their time on the river to early in the morning, maybe up until about 10 or 11am then after about 7 in the evening when the sun is off the water. During these times of the day the dry/dropper action has been the best with a chubby chernobyl, rubber leg stimulator or hopper on top and a perdigon, zebra midge, psycho prince or something like that underneath. We did get one good streamer report from the Nevada side this week though that was the only streamer report we've received.

Sceirine Ranch
The ranch is also still fishing well with much of the same patterns as listed above. It's probably best to reserve half day sessions in the morning as opposed to full days for the next 5 or 6 weeks.

Hunewill Pond
We haven't had any clients on the pond for a few weeks so I decided to head out there this morning to see what was going on. It was a beautiful 3 hours on the water and the fishing was pretty good. I netted 7 fish and missed or farmed at least a dozen others. I also had one fish take me to into my backing, I never got to see him so I don't know if he was tail hooked or just big and angry. All of the fish I landed were about 17" to 20" and very feisty. That being said, there are lots and lots of w**ds in the pond right now, there's a very limited amount of water that is fishable at all with probably 90+ percent of the pond not being very fishable. If you are willing to tangle with the w**d situation you should be able to have a pretty good time out there but if the w**ds are too much for you to want to deal with I would recommend not going until later in the season when the weather cools. I caught fish this morning on damsel nymphs, black mini leeches and black/silver soft hackles.
Below is the report from June 07, 2026 for reference:
We received a couple of complaints about the w**ds on the pond this week so I took some time this morning and went out there myself to have a go. There are definitely a lot of w**ds in the pond right now, launching my tube was a little difficult as there are some thick matts of w**ds up against the North shore, likely from the wind blowing the w**ds up there after mowing. Once I got out 20 or 30 feet I noticed it was really too w**dy to fish, my plan was to just kick around the pond looking for some water that was somewhat w**d free. As I moved towards the West side of the pond I ran into a pretty good clearing and started throwing some casts with a small leech pattern and a soft hackle dropper, first or second cast I got hit, a couple casts later I hooked and landed a nice 16" rainbow. I fished this area for a half hour or so and landed 2 more fish, farmed 3 or 4 and got hit several more times without hooking up. I moved on to see what kind of shape the rest of the pond was in, as I kicked over to the South side it was very w**dy, too w**dy to really bother fishing then when I got over to the East side I ran into another much larger clear area and in short order was able to catch a couple more 14" to 16" bows and farm several more. All in all I'd say there is about 10 or 15% of the pond that is fishable, I did hook up some w**ds now and then but it wasn't that bad in the more clear areas. That being said I would let you know that if you're willing to tolerate these conditions you should be able to have a pretty good time on the pond. I'll try to keep a close eye on the conditions and if it gets bad enough that there are no clear areas to fish I'll let you know.

Bridgeport Reservoir
Bridgeport has slowed a bit this past week with most anglers reporting just a few fish per boat per day. Nothing has been going on from the shore that we've heard of lately. Most of the fish that are being caught are up in the East Walker, Buckeye an Robinson channels as well as a few off of Rainbow Point. There's been a few fish caught trolling but overall the trolling has been pretty slow. Power bait, pinched crawlers, mice tails and inflated crawlers have all been good.

Kirman Lake
We had one report from Kirman this week and were told that 3 anglers were able to catch 7 fish with mini jigs from the shore. This is pretty good news as the shore fishing is typically pretty tough on Kirman. I feel like if you were to get out in a tube and able to cover more water you might be able to have a pretty good day. For fly anglers I'd recommend small leeches, soft hackles and scud patterns. If you make it up there we'd sure like to hear how you do!

Twin Lakes
We've been getting some good reports from the Twins this past week with lots of anglers getting into fish up to 4+pounds up there, both trolling and bait fishing. Trollers are having some success trolling the shoreline with small Rapalas, Thomas Bouyants and Kastmasters while bait anglers have been using inflated crawlers, mice tails, pinched crawlers and power bait. There has also been some anglers doing well casting mini jigs like Hook Up Baits and Sierra Slammers.

West Walker River
We only had a few reports from the West this week and overall it sounds like it was pretty tough. The best action seemed to be up near the town of Walker in the North portion of the canyon. There was some dry/dropper action for the fly anglers and some early morning and late evening action with Panther Martins and Vibrax lures. A few anglers also caught some fish with salmon eggs and mini crawlers.

Virginia Lakes
The Virginias livened up quite a bit this week with lots of good reports coming in from both shore anglers and tube/kayak anglers. Baits that have been working include Power Bait, pinched crawlers, mice tails and power bait. Good lures have been Thomas Bouyants, Kastmasters, Sierra Slammers and Hook Up Baits. Fly anglers have been doing well stripping leeches and soft hackles with sinking lines.

Bridgeport Fish Report - July 26, 2026

East Walker River
The East is running about 125 now and with this warmer weather it's very important to keep an eye on the water temperatures and give those fish a break when the gets up to 70 or so. We've still been getting some very good reports in the mornings and late evenings when the water is cooler. I'd say early morning until around 10 has been ok, then after 7pm or so it starts to cool down again. Dry/dropper rigs seems to be the best thing going lately though we did get one good report from the Nevada side on streamers. Some patterns to try: perdigon, zebra midge, hare's ear, psycho prince, chubby chernobyl, rubber leg stimulator, foam hopper, sculpzilla, ziwi, dead drift crayfish.

Sceirine Ranch
The ranch is also still fishing well with much of the same patterns as listed above. It's probably best to reserve half day sessions in the morning as opposed to full days for the next 5 or 6 weeks.

Hunewill Pond
We didn't have anyone on the pond this week but I think we might have some clients during the upcoming week, we'll let you know what we find out as soon as we can.

Bridgeport Reservoir
The Reservoir has been fishing very well this past week with lots of very good reports coming in with good numbers of fish and very good quality. There are a few fish being caught trolling but bait fishing or fly fishing up in the channels has been the best way to get those rods bent. There's also still some fish being caught off of Rainbow Point. The East Walker channel and the Buckeye Bay channels have been producing the best. Power bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers and inflated crawlers have all been doing the trick.

Kirman Lake
We didn't hear any news from Kirman this past week, if we hear anything this coming week we'll let you know.

Twin Lakes
We've had some very good reports come in from the Twins the last couple days, mostly bait fishing from the shore. The trollers have been picking up a few trolling deep with kastmasters and small Rapalas while the bait anglers have been doing well with garlic power bait and pinched crawlers. Some of the fish we've seen this week have weighed in at 3+ pounds.

West Walker River
We've had some pretty good reports from the West the last couple days as well, not huge numbers of fish necessarily but enough action to keep anglers happy and some pretty good sized fish are coming in as well. Sounds like bait has been working well like power eggs, salmon eggs and night crawlers. Early and late in the day spinners like Panther Martins and Blue Fox lures have been good. We haven't talked to too many fly anglers lately but this is the time of year to run hopper/dropper rigs.

Virginia Lakes
We had a couple slow fly reports come in from the Virginias but were told from those anglers that the bait fishermen were doing very well launching power bait from the shoreline! Kind of the opposite we'd expect this time of the year but that's fishing. If you still want to give the fly fishing a go try small leech patterns with soft hackle droppers, and maybe cruise the shoreline with an intermediate line, for lures I would go with mini jigs like Hook Up Baits and Sierra Slammers.

Bridgeport Fish Report - July 19, 2026

East Walker River
The river is running at about 145 cfs today, it's had a few flow changes this past week but that didn't seem to have any affect on the fishing. Water temps are still in the 60's, low 60's in the mornings and high 60's in the evenings, we're recommending staying off the water midday to give the fish a rest during these warmer weeks. Mornings and evenings have been producing some good fish for most anglers with good reports coming in from both straight nymphing as well as fishing dry/dropper rigs. Not much news about any streamer action lately. Some fly suggestions: perdigon, darth baetis, rainbow warrior, hare's ear, zebra midge, silver streak, rubberleg stimulator, chubby chernobyl, naked chernobyl, hoppers.

Sceirine Ranch
The ranch is still fishing well with good reports coming in during the mornings and evenings just like the California side. Much of the same patterns are working on the ranch, the only thing I might add would be some Pat's rubber legs.

Hunewill Pond
We had clients on the pond this week on several different days and all of them did very well with anglers reporting double digit fish to the net most every day, it sounds like the w**ds are still growing and the fishable water is shrinking a bit but there is still enough clear space to have a great time. Damsel nymphs, small leeches and soft hackles are the ticket still out there.
Below is the report from June 07, 2026 for reference:

Bridgeport Reservoir
The reservoir is still producing nice fish every day with the largest one we saw this week weighing in at just over 7 pounds. Bait fishing in the channels in Buckeye Bay, the East Walker channel and some off of Rainbow Point has been the best method, however there are still a diehards trolling and picking up some fish as well. Not much news from the shore this time of the year, likely the shore fishing won't pick up until late in the season. Typical baits like garlic power bait, mice tails, pinched crawlers and inflated crawlers are all doing well, and for trolling it's been night crawlers, small Rapalas and speedy shiners.

Kirman Lake
We didn't hear any news from Kirman this past week, if we hear anything this coming week we'll let you know.

Twin Lakes
The Twins are also still kicking out some good fish with 4 and 5 pounders being fairly common, bait anglers are using power bait, inflated crawlers and mice tails while trolling has been producing some fish with Rapalas, Kastmasters and Jakes Spin-a-Lures.

West Walker River
Still some mixed reports from the West with the more successful anglers reporting catching fish with power eggs, salmon eggs, night crawlers, Panther Martins hook-up baits and Sierra Slammers. Fly anglers have been bending some rods with hopper dropper rigs as well as drifting small buggers.

Virginia Lakes
The Virginias are also kicking out some good fish with lures and bait as well as some good action for the fly anglers. Early and late in the day has been best though if you're out in a tube or kayak you should be able to pull some fish in the deeper water.
