Refunds, Replacements, & Discounted Grain: $2.26 per pound (S&H included).

The last few months have been a huge struggle for us for several different reasons: Etsy closed our shop without warning right before COVID shut downs. The shut downs disrupted critical aspects of our business, and a new way we were producing our product as a result, produced an inconsistent and inferior product. This was all compounded with some health related issues that I was facing.

We're finally back on our feet and need to make amends to some buyers:

If you received sterilized grain that you were unhappy with we will replace it free of charge or give a 100% refund. If you had any other issues, we will also work to resolve these.

Additionally, customer support will reply within 24 hours from here on out.

We are currently fully caught up on orders and they now ship within 1 week of ordering via priority mail shipping (1-3 business days).

If you are interested in purchasing our 3 lbs bags of sterilized grain we are offering temporarily discounted prices at $4.50 per 3 lbs bag.

They can be purchased here:
https://www.vesp.co/product/14926

8 x 3 lbs bags is the cheapest to ship, so the best deal is to purchase in increments of 8. That's $2.26 per pound of sterilized grain to your door, shipping cost included.

As always:

If it contaminates before you inoculate it, we will replace or give a full refund.

If it contaminates after you inoculate, send us a picture and we will either give a large discount or replace it free of charge, depending what happened.

Hello! :)
Not the best at talking on camera, but here's the cheapest, most reliable and fool proof way to make liquid culture lids and jars. You can shake and tilt them without any worries about contamination.

Please share with friends/groups if you think it'll help someone. Lots of people seem to have trouble with using liquid cultures. Doesn't have to be hard!

Also see picture comments below for more details.

What it requires:
1. Regular metal mason jar lids.
2. A normal paper punch (costs less tan $3 at Walmart)
3. Red RTV high temperature gasket maker/silicone
https://www.vesp.co/product/versachem-hi-temp-red-rtv-silicone-65309-3-oz-tube-15026
4. One 0.22 micron syringe filter + needle.
https://www.vesp.co/product/10-x-leur-lock-25mm-ptfe-0-22-micron-whatman-syringe-filter-18074

All you need to do is punch two holes in the lid with the paper punch, cover both of them (and on both sides) with a dab of the RTV silicone.

Once dry, add to the jar with your liquid culture solution in it. Pressure cook for 15 minutes at 15 psi.
It'll form a vacuum, and that will prove it is properly sealed effectively removing any risk of contamination.

When cool and ready to inoculate, add a recently sterilized syringe filter with needle on top and let the clean filtered air come in.

Use the other port to inoculate with your spore suspension or liquid culture solution. In about a weak you'll have nearly a liter of clean, dense mycelium.

I recommend using 3% to 5% bobs white fancy table syrup. It has about 13 grams of sugar per 30ml, which is mostly mostly glucose (less likely to turn brown from heat) and about 18 grams of starch. The starch acts as a longer term food without hurting the mycelium, like higher concentrations of sugar do.
Once the simple sugars are used up, the myc can consume the starch.

Others recommend maltose, light malt extract, or honey but:
1. Maltose isnt available locally.
2. Light malt extract caramelizes fairly easily and adds lots of brown floaties as it has various proteins in it. Plus it's not easy to find.

3. Honey has a high amount of fructose in it that has a much lower caramelization temperature, which will cause it to change colors and sometimes stunt the growth of the mycelium.
