She glows 💗

Here is Dahlia RM Honey Hive, a new introduction from River Merle Farm. I’ve been looking forward to seeing this one in person all spring and summer!

I’m our northeast climate, RM Honey Hive offers glowing oranges, coral and peach tones atop very long stems. Stems are a little bit wobbly for me so far, but that may change later in the season. This dahlia makes a stunning garden flower and I’ll be testing it as a cut flower too!

📸 Dahlia RM Copper Shimmer

A new introduction from River Merle Farm .

Copper, pink and peach blooms on sturdy green stems.

If you have grown KA’s Cinder Rose, it has a similar glow around the edge of the petals (an incredibly beautiful feature!), though it is a very different shade and warm toned.

📸 Dahlia Sandia Regal

I have a soft spot for waterlilies, but they hate our summers and rarely look like they should until fall hits.

And while I know this one will get even better once the weather changes, I can’t help but love her now! Sandia Regal was my dream dahlia this year and I was so excited to score her. Her stems are incredibly long and solid and she has excellent bloom attachment. She’s here to stay 👌

📸Dahlia RM Dragon’s Blood

A new introduction from River Merle Farm 💗

I don’t usually go for red, but I had to have this one!

Very dark and moody centers a LOT of petals. Prolific bloomer (all of the RM new intros have been prolific for us this year!). And you all know I love dark stems on my dahlias.

It has some magenta undertones here and there in our summer climate.

Dahlia Klara Zak

Large Fluffy blooms on dark stems and foliage. Klara Zak features dark smoky pink and sunset shades with a raspberry reverse petal. She’s very unique! Plants grow more compact for us so cut stems deeply for cut flowers, and they will get longer. I’ve been growing this dahlia for 3 seasons now, and every year I’m so happy to see her. Unfortunately she is not a great tuber producer for us, but so worth growing again.

Dahlia River’s Can’t Elope

One of my favorite additions last season, so I planted a lot more this year! River’s Can’t Elope has the wispiest creamsicle colored petals with a darker center. She blooms often for us and looks good even in the high heat and humidity of a Connecticut summer. It’s an absolutely magical dahlia.

Some of this weekend’s blooms 💗

Home dahlias are doing their thing! One of the reasons I like cuttings so much is that they bloom way earlier than dahlias planted from tubers. Many have already bloomed once, but the rest are not far behind.

We had the first bloom from a tuber this weekend too!

I spent a little time corralling dahlias out of my pathways this weekend and stripping some lower leaves.

📸 Dahlia Levi’s Kaleidoscope

I love this one! Darker Raspberry with a smoky center and beautiful dark green foliage. Plant habit is more compact so far, but very bushy - this one will give lots of blooms!

📸 Dahlia Araluen Leatrice

Bubblegum pink but with some depth and a golden streaking on the petals. Gold tips too! Even with the wonky first bloom center this one is so special.
