(Not so) Fun Fact: If you have old fiberglass window screens, you might be breathing in dirty fiberglass dust!

We recently removed old screen mesh from 15 window screens (enough to cover almost an entire home), and this is just some of the dust we collected😷. This dust sheds a lot during removal, but if the mesh isn’t replaced, it likely flakes off every time a breeze passes through your windows — right into your home and your lungs.

Signs your fiberglass screens might be emitting dust:

- Screens feel "silky" or look "hazy" from the outside.
- They’re over 8 years old.
- They get a lot of direct sunlight throughout the day.

A big shoutout to my Dad

Over the weekend, we had a huge screened-in patio job that turned out to be a lot of work. The person I had scheduled to help me canceled three days before the job, so I asked my Dad for assistance. He stepped up without hesitation.

We spent 13 hours each day working on the patio, dealing with the heat and constantly going up and down ladders holding large heavy wood planks, being careful that we don't hurt the screens (all aluminum) or ourselves.

Despite being 70 years old, my Dad handled it all like a champ. We were exhausted and dirty by the end of each day, but we got the job done on time. The homeowner is now enjoying their new screens, just as promised.

Thank you Dad for your help. Hope you've recovered by now!
