“Our talk is a combination of cool slides of prohibition shoot outs, rum runners, dastardly cads, with readings and narration of process.” -Bird Jones
🕵🏻♀️ Join us for a lively evening of mystery and murder. The Washashore is the latest book from the intergenerational writing team of Marshall Highet and Bird Jones. The story, set in Martha’s Vineyard in 1929 during Prohibition, chronicles the adventures of an unlikely pair–Emily, a Nebraska orphan, and her patrician New England, Aunt Isabel, as they set about to solve the mysterious death of the island’s own Ann Simpson.
✍ The authors will use a combination of readings, insights and historical material as they weave together fact and fiction to create a rollicking good tale. You can almost smell the salt and hear the rumble of the rumrunners’ engines as they elude capture on moonless nights. Proceeds of book sales will benefit the museum.
