This is how it happens.
1972, a team of MIT scientists published a study that predicted the collapse of industrial civilization by the end of the 21st century. The study, titled The Limits to Growth, identified a number of "limits to growth" that would result from the overexploitation of natural resources. The study's findings were controversial at the time, but a recent study by KPMG International suggests that the predictions may be accurate.
The KPMG study reassessed 10 key variables from the original MIT study, including population, pollution, food production, and industrial output. The KPMG study concluded that the world could experience a "total societal collapse" by 2040.
