I wanted to take today's usual weekly update and change it up a little.....
I took on this challenging opportunity of buying the pawn shop 8 years ago. It was an absolutely successful venture thanks to my loyal friends and family that put so much time into it with me without waiver. They would never take payment for anything they ever helped with. I will be forever in their debt and happy for it.
Earlier this year one of my best friends and adviser, David, had to leave the shop because of medical needs that would take several months to rehabilitate from. David had planned on leaving and officially retiring at the end of this year. Even though we speak often and I see him it absolutely left a void at the shop. Back then when we spoke about him hanging it up at the end of '24 I had decided it was time for me to make another move back to where it all began, the kitchen table.
Jojo will be starting his senior year next year and I wanted to take the opportunity to enjoy the opportunities he received before he went off into adulthood. I had decided back then that I would find a way to get back to my kitchen by June of '25 that way me and David could enjoy the rest of '24. Since David's procedure changed that timelines, I decided to change mine. I started conditioning myself and investigating how I would make a clean transition for myself, my family, and especially the pawn clients that rely on me being there to help and to give security to their property.
For a couple of months now I have been setting everything up with this transition. I have a friend who was more than excited to take on the opportunity to further his family's future. If I did not believe and trust in him to conduct the pawn shop as I would then I would have never gave it a second thought. When I decided to move on it I felt no regret or remorse so I know it was the correct move.
The transition has been taking place, and the official date will be January 2, 2025.
I will close Quik Fix Gun & Pawn on December 24, 2024 at 1pm and it will reopen under a different name on January 2, 2025. We will be available for pawn pick up, new pawns, and renewals Friday and Saturday (27th & 28th). We will just stop sales during this week so I can audit and transfer inventory.
To anyone worried about property in the shop I want to make sure you understand it is protected, and the pawn business will not change.
I will be helping at the new shop for several months making sure I give them the best chance of success.
I will be keeping my website (quikguns.com) and will be conducting business out of my residence. Basically, it will be as it was before the shop with even more goodies and deals.
I feel I owe it to my family to slow down a little. My boy is almost grown, and I want to make sure I do everything in my power to help him become a better man than me; truthfully, he already is.
I will continue to update on my pages and on the website.
God Bless all of you and from the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you.
