We came up with these to have an inline spinner with the capability to get down and stay deep! They are designed to quickly sink to depth and then stay down for a deadly horizontal retrieve! This allows the bait to stay in the zone for the entire retrieve and then you can do a deep figure 8! As an added bonus the weighted down arm adds an element of deflection when it contacts rocks, logs or weeds. It acts similar to the lip on a crank bait and bounces off while pushing the hook up and away from the snag.
They also troll well!
