People keep asking for a tutorial on this gold leaf technique, but the truth is… it really is as easy as it looks.

Lay the gold leaf on the clay slab, smooth it out, press your cutter in (use a release agent like cornstarch or armor-all for detailed cutters), add tape, smooth again, then peel it up.

The gold leaf itself isn’t usually the hard part. What actually makes the difference between “homemade” and professional-looking earrings is the clay handling before and after:
• properly conditioning the clay without trapping air bubbles
• lifting the clay cleanly from your surface (or baking directly on the surface)
• keeping the clay smooth and fingerprint-free
• sanding edges after baking if needed

As always, the boring prep/detail work is what really elevates the final product. ✨

Some jewelry makers hate these tools because the loops aren’t always perfectly uniform… but when you’re making a lot of pieces, this thing is a lifesaver 😆 A quick little adjustment sometimes is worth saving SO much time.
