💖Asana is a Sanskrit word that means "the postures of a seated person." It's a practice that you can do anywhere, and it's easy to learn how to get started.
Here are some basics you can start practicing today:
-The Foundation: It's your foundation for everything else you do in yoga: it supports you and gives you stability. Its purpose is to keep your core strong. To do this, make sure you're sitting upright with your feet flat on the floor—this will help bring awareness to your spine and keep it from rounding when you move.
-The Core: Your core is everything from your stomach up to your rib cage. Keep it strong by engaging your core muscles—including those deep inner ones!
-The Bandhas: Bandhas are vital for maintaining optimal posture during asana practice and everyday life, but they're also great for helping us stay centered and calm. It is recommended to practice them every day!
-The Breath: The purpose is to help us connect with ourselves on an emotional level during asana practice—it grounds us in our bodies. The goal is to become more aware of your breath so that it becomes easier for you to focus on what you're doing. This helps you be more present at the moment and create positive habits.
