In September of 2013 the City of Bryant was selected by the Imagine Central Arkansas Partners as one of five urban redesign projects to be funded through the Metroplan Jump Start grant. The Original Town district of Bryant is the specific area to be focused on by the professional planners from the Gateway Firm and ICF. The Gateway planning/consulting team from Dallas will work with the City of Br
yant to create a comprehensive urban downtown plan for the Original Town of Bryant. The goal is to create a renewed desire to develop a downtown that embraces the culture fitting Bryant’s greatest strengths and character. Amenities that will be planned with residents' input will include improved housing and business development to spur economic expansion along a more walkable bikeable town center, improved connectivity in and around the high school, and a destination of sorts that will be inviting for people to choose to stop and spend a little more time in the Heart of Bryant. Since then, plans have been made and new planning standards set for this area. Through these many meetings, a visioning team has emerged consisting of residents and business owners in the area. Many of these improvements have been implemented, including new streetscape, sidewalks, Farmers Market, Parks, and new businesses in the area.
