American Goldfinches are solely seed eaters. Therefore, we can find them in fields of flowers and thistle, in trees (mainly birch, cedar, or elm), and at our feeders!

Goldfinches are also some of the last songbirds to start nesting during the summer.

Want to attract goldfinches to your yard? Offer straight FINE sunflower chips OR mix with nyger. Be sure to plant native plants like Aster, Coneflowers, Black-eyed Susans, and Golenrod. Allow these plants to go to seed (avoid deadheading).
