Kate here! It has officially been 100 days (technically 103, but who's counting?) since I stepped into the role of Shopkeeper while Andy recovered from a knee replacement on May 19th. What a baptism by fire this summer was and yet I can't help but be grateful. Grateful for a robust summer season, a true blue group of "Regulars" and locals alike, and a truly world class mentor.
With this 100th Day milestone I wanted to give one big update and a couple small ones. The big one is the image below: beginning Monday, September 7th, BookStacks will be closed on Mondays for the fall and winter. I have truly relished the whirlwind that was summer 2026 but it would do me a world of good to have a day each week to spend with my family and "re-set" my home life.
As for an Andy update this knee-replacement recovery has been quite the uphill battle and it's not over yet. Keep Andy in your thoughts for Tuesday afternoon as he heads in for a corrective surgery for the soft tissue damage around the new knee. It'll be another couple months until he's back but it's an honor and a privilege to be at the helm of BookStacks in his stead.
