Tara Gift Shoppe , WNY's Original Irish Import shop, is located in the Irish Heritage District of South Buffalo. Founded in 1980, and named after the Hill of Tara, the store opened to provide the community with a selection of Irish goods. Our inventory includes the finest Ireland offers: Belleek, Royal Tara, Condron Knitwear, Solvar, O'Connor, Fado and Shanore jewelry, knitwear for adults as wel

l as children, collectibles, music and so much more. The shop draws customers from across the country as they stop in to reminisce or check out the "old neighborhood". Our friendly and knowledgeable staff make the customer feel as though they were family. Our website will provide our customers a way to reach us when a visit is not possible. Owned by Mary Heneghan whose father was from Kilmihil, Co. Mayo; Tara is staffed by family and friends, the shoppe provides the community with a checkpoint for all things Irish. A photo of ration Tickets. - Ireland, Friday 30 March, 1849 hundreds of starving people walked 19km from Louisburgh to Delphi Lodge in Mayo, they were directed there to see the relief officers to get tickets for food. There was a heavy storm at the time. Dozens of people perished on the journey, many bodies were thrown into the lake in the days after as a water burial. On arrival at Delphi Lodge the poor were told that the officers were not to be disturbed as they were eating their dinner.
