Here's Jeff Miers on protecting live music on Elmwood Avenue. Please read. My general feeling is that if you want to live in a quiet residential area, then don't live on or right off a commercial strip. It sounds like Jack Rabbit has tried to work with their neighbors in good faith, but a vocal minority has placed their wants above the good of the larger community. And frankly, I've had enough of that s**t.

A small but aggressively vocal group of neighbors has been claiming fault where there is none to be found for several years.

Hey there, thank you to everyone who came out and/or supported the NWR bash last week. We had a blast, and raised some money for two very worthwhile institutions, Roswell Park and BCAT.
We still have a few remaining T-shirts, poster, pennants and totes. please message us if you're interested. Everything is $30 (+ shipping if needed). [For t-shirts, specify color (black or olive green) and size desired.]

Hey friends, Ron Hawkins has called in very sick (the curse of the north). We're heartbroken about it, but also heart fixed because our good friends The Steam Donkeys have valiantly stepped in to complete our bill. Send some positive, healing thoughts to Ron. Please contact Asbury Hall at 716-852-3835 before doors open at 6:30 with any questions.

Just in case you hadn’t heard - Fall 2024 is the 40th Anniversary of New World Record and we’re getting ready to celebrate with the World’s Largest In-Store, a blowout anniversary party where you'll hear live music, see old friends, and reminisce about a time when the charms of ephemera and tactile forms of music were savored.

We'll have a killer lineup of artists that have been important players in the New World story:

* Michael Oliver & The Sacred Band
* The Alison Pipitone Band
* Ron Hawkins
* plus an extra special surprise 10 years in the making!

We'll also have a pop up shop including limited run totes, t-shirts, pennants, posters, vintage New World merch and unique, exclusive artifacts from New World’s history for sale. (Think Oxford Pennant, Richard Kegler, OtherWisz Creative, Positive Approach Press, Inc. and more than a few surprises.)

Not to mention TCB will be here slinging their best tacos!

Tickets are moving quick so make sure you get yours at Babeville online or in person at the Babeville box office.

Ticket proceeds to benefit Buffalo Center for Arts and Technology and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s most pressing needs.

Longtime friends of New World Record will remember my friend and partner Christine Madden. Chris' birthday is today, so if you knew her, raise a glass, and if you didn't, also raise a glass. She would've loved the 40th anniversary celebration coming up next Friday, because she was the heart of New World for its first several years, and she had an indefatigable love for music and people. She's been gone for four years, and she's missed by everyone who knew her.
Here's a favorite picture of her with her son Bob Madden taken in our very first location in the heart of darkest Williamsville.

Can you believe we're only seven short days away from the big shindig? We can't wait to see you there!
