LG washer not draining? Seeing an OE error code?

The OE code means your LG washer is having trouble draining water—but it doesn’t automatically mean the drain pump has failed.

In our latest guide, Moe, an Appliance EMT technician with 14 years of appliance-repair experience, explains what the OE code means, what homeowners can safely check first, and when the problem may need professional diagnosis.

You’ll learn about:

Clogged drain pump filters
Kinked or blocked drain hoses
Drain pump problems
What to do if the filter is clean but the OE code keeps coming back
When it’s time to call a technician

Moe also explains the OE code in a quick video included in the article.

Is it safe to use the self-cleaning setting on your oven?

Serge explains that the cycle creates extreme heat, which can put extra stress on components that are already getting weak. The oven may not fail every time, but the risk is why he recommends cleaning it manually instead.

Was your washer almost finished, then suddenly added more time?

Moe explains that an unbalanced load can make the washer pause and keep trying to redistribute everything. This often happens when too many clothes and heavy blankets are packed together.

Leave enough space for items to move and use the proper cycle for bulky loads. If the washer keeps adding time with normal loads, it may need to be checked.

Do the fridge and freezer cool separately?

On models with a dual duct cooling system, separate airflow helps each section manage its temperature more independently. That is why the freezer may stay cold while the refrigerator feels warm.

Serge explains how the system works and why this temperature difference matters during diagnosis.
