Jackie (Jack) Wayne Adrian, born Dec 19th, 1958, of Buhler, Kansas, went to see Jesus on July 7th, 2024, at 6:00 am. Jack leaves behind his wife of 44 years, Vicki Adrian. His son Josh, his wife Cassie, and their children Ruth, Charlotte, and Harvey of Manhattan, KS. His daughter Jenny Hands, her husband Trevor, and their son Graden of Garden City, KS. His sisters Paula Strasser (Bob) of Dallas, TX, and Vicki Stobbe (Ken) of Newton, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne and Lovella Adrian, from Buhler, KS. Jack grew up in and was a long-time member of the Buhler Mennonite Brethren church and then First Nazarene Church of Hutchinson. His Faith in Jesus was deeply important to him and his Family.
Jack, a true son of Buhler, KS, was a child who adored fishing, building things, and spending time on his grandpa's farm in Burlington. His love for farming was deep. In high school, he rented a small piece of land to grow watermelons, using his International Scout to disc the soil. After school, Jack ventured into home building and construction before fulfilling his dream by purchasing a farm east of Buhler in 1984. After 18 years of farming, he switched gears and opened a used car dealership in South Hutchinson.
Jack met his wife Vicki on a chance encounter at the Grovesner House Hotel in London, England while attending a Shaklee International sales convention in 1977; they married in 1979. Jack and Vicki did almost everything together. Vicki owned Adrians A-to-Z (Adrians Boutique). As a farmer, Jack may not have seemed to fit the part, but he was integral to the Boutique women's store. He designed and built booths for the Kansas State Fair and other shows, built the store on Main St, and created countless displays over the years. On several occasions, he would work the booth alone, selling trendy women's clothing.
Jack enjoyed people and showed love for others by chiding them about whatever would get a reaction. He could be found most mornings in Buhler sitting around a table with others, drinking coffee. Jack enjoyed fishing with his grandpa, his children, his grandchildren, and finally, to his great joy, late in life with his wife. Jack enjoyed searching for and finding things, like two-cylinder John Deere tractors, 1960s Fords, vintage fi****ms, old advertising signs, and unique places to stay and eat wherever he went. Jack was a gifted woodworker building things that would make Norm Abrams jealous. Most of all, Jack loved designing, creating, and building projects of many different types; unfortunately, many of his projects, just like his life, remain unfinished. Jack Adrian died at the age of 65.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 13th, at 11:00 a.m. at First Nazarene Church of Hutchinson (Inspire Church), 4290 N Monroe St, with a faspa and opportunity to share about Jack following the service. The family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, July 12th at the Buhler Mortuary, 120 N Main St, Buhler. In lieu of flowers, Jack requested donations to The Jesus Film Harvest Partners (https://www.jfhp.org/ (https://www.jfhp.org/)). Please honor Jack by dressing casually for the funeral. He will roll over in his
grave if you wear a tie.
