Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen visiting Burkittsville and stopped at PJ Gilligan, Dry Goods &Mercantile Co. The Senators are old car guys and appreciated a working 1953 Dodge pickup truck. The Senators looked at the interior of the shop and I explained a little history of the Town of Burkittsville during the Civil War.

Two sitting U.S. Senators visiting Burkittsville on the way to drop off a very large check for our public works project. Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Holland Stopped by P.J. Gilligan, Dry Goods and Mercantile Co. (me). Also in the photo is our Mayor, Michael Robinson and our County Councilman, Jerry Donald (Dist. 1). Also in the photo is town councilman Jim Hauver, who is my next door neighbor.
The Senators visited the store to look at the oldest and continuously operating store in Maryland. That was very cool.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the first Boogie by the Barn! It was a great success and a wonderful day at the Shafer Farm. A big thanks to the Gravy Soppers, the Dargan Benders, Whistlepunk Farms, and Smoketown Brewing who made the day extra special. We hope to do more events like this in the future and wanted to say thank you to everyone for making it possible.
