🌍 Just finished one of the most thought-provoking chapters of my Oxford Saïd AI & Sustainability course — and I'm still processing it.

We dove deep into AI Governance — how the world is trying to write the rules for the most powerful technology ever built. And what strikes me most? Every country is doing it differently.

The EU has the world's most comprehensive AI law — the AI Act — sorting systems by risk, banning the most dangerous uses outright, and requiring transparency for everything else. The US offers voluntary guidelines and a patchwork of state laws. China races ahead with innovation while building its own parallel governance system.

And in organisations themselves? The best governance isn't just policies and processes. It's culture. It's the moment a team member feels safe enough to say "I don't think we should build this" — and knows they'll be heard.

The deepest lesson:

The rules matter. But the people interpreting them matter more.
