One of my longtime fears as a business owner has been the fear of something happening to me and jeopardizing the whole of the business.
And that finally happened in mid-July.
I fell 2 feet from my patio at home in a random accident, shattering and dislocating my ankle. I spent 3 nights in the hospital, then a week and a half at home, then had surgery, and came home about a week ago. I won’t be standing upright until September, and not back walking until sometime in 2027.
In most circumstances, this would be catastrophic for a small business like mine. But, through adding more staff and improving our behind the scenes processes, we haven’t had a single interruption at the store. This is practically miraculous to me.
I am so so grateful to my staff for hanging in through this crazy time. They’ve shined and really met the moment. And I’m so grateful for all the support and love that I and my partner have received. I’ve never experienced anything like it in my life.
All that to say, thank you to all of you too for continuing to shop at the store and attending our events and reaching out about coaching. It all really adds up for us, and has meant I could take the time I actually need to heal after this unfortunate accident.
Thanks for helping make this small business dream of mine work, in the best of times and the worst. 💛
