Burlington Woman's Club

We have been serving Burlington since 1938. BWC operates a Thrift Shop in downtown Burlington.

The Burlington Woman's Club is a non-profit organization whose members are dedicated to serving our communities by volunteering our talents and sharing our resources to enhance the lives of others. In addition to providing good quality, affordable clothing and small housewares, the profits are reinvested in the local, state, and global community through scholarships and donations to carefully selected agencies.

Four members of the BWC attended the GFWC-NC summer meeting in Brown Summit and got to interact with these outstanding leaders! More soon!

Recently, Marie of the Education and Libraries CSP and Betsy of the Health and Wellness CSP delivered 56 of our famous hobo bags to the May Memorial Library for their mobile library. As you may know, we held a “no-sew fest” in the late spring when we produced 139 bags from used t-shirts that had been donated to our thrift shop. BWC members continue to produce bags. With the bags, mobile library patrons can easily tote home their chosen reading materials.

The BWC is very grateful for a designated anonymous donation that helped us purchase and install a new awning for the Thrift Shop! Be sure to stop by and check out our new look in historic downtown Burlington (317 S. Main St.). Shop our bargains on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays 11:30-4:30 before the summer merchandise is all gone! Remember: every purchase helps us give back to the community.

On Thursday evening, the Burlington Woman’s Club was grateful to be recognized at the Burlington Sock Puppets baseball game as a local nonprofit. We gave out stress balls shaped like baseballs and chatted with many fans before the Sock Puppets and the Kingsport Axemen took the field. It was terribly hot, but we had fun. We are afraid the Sock Puppets were not pleased with the final score, however.
