Happy Indigenous People’s Day!

Today, we look back and remember the brutal history of colonization in this nation. At the same time, we also celebrate the resilience of Indigenous peoples and the ongoing fight to preserve their culture and ways of living.

Our Essex and Burlington stores stand on the land of the Wabanaki (Dawnland Confederacy) and N’dakina (Abenaki) peoples. Our Rutland store stands on the lands of the Wabanaki, Mohican, and N’dakina peoples. Acknowledging native lands is just one small action we can take towards recognize what could never be described in a single Instagram caption — the colonization and extermination of Native peoples’ land and ways of living.

Happy Indigenous Peoples Day. Read narratives by Indigenous folks and support the stories that once couldn’t be told. ❤️📖

Next week, the USA Today bestselling author of Automatic Noodle, Annalee Newitz, will be joined in conversation with Vermont historian and writer, Andrew Liptak! They will be discussing Annalee’s newest book, A Wall is Also a Road!

A Wall is Also a Road is a sci-fi tale of love, science, relation, and understanding set in ancient Pompeii. It is a delightful read and a unique take on inter-species love, according to Tod, GM of Phoenix Burlington 🧬🧪💖

RSVP for FREE at the link in our bio! See you next week for our events-full week!!
