I honestly spent most of my adult life feeling broken, like there was something wrong with me. Thankfully my journey led me to the tools I needed to take creative control of my life. I’ve learned to fall in love with my life. Dedicated to those who can't be caged! It is my mission to help other women get past their bullsh*t to create the life they didn’t know was possible.

👀 The next few experiences are officially on the calendar… and I’m trying REALLY hard not to give them away.

Let’s just say the next stops in my 100 Experiences in Rural Texas experiment might involve…

🌹 something beautiful
🐴 something a little adventurous
🌊 and maybe a place that makes you forget you’re in Texas for a minute.

And that’s what I’m loving most about this experiment.

Every time I think, “Surely I know what there is to do around here…” I find something else.

100 things you can DO — not just see — in rural Texas.
And the list keeps growing.

🔎 Any guesses where I’m headed next?

Or better yet… what experience am I still missing?

Experience 4 of 100.

When I said I was looking for 100 experiences hiding in rural Texas, THIS is exactly what I meant.

First of all, a drive in the country is always good for the soul.

And today, that drive took me to The Hive, tucked away about 20 minutes from Brenham, Round Top, and Burton.

I met Bethany, and I learned pretty quickly—this isn’t your typical spa.

Her experiences fall into three categories:
Wellness. Spa. And body work.

You might choose something restorative like Raindrop Technique or Lymphatic drainage, an elevated spa experience where you can simply slow down, or targeted body work focused on mobility and alignment.

But here’s the best part:
Bethany curates the experience around what YOU need.

Come by yourself, grab a few girlfriends, or make it an entire Harmony Hive Day.

This is exactly what I’m looking for—things you can DO, not just see, in rural Texas.

Experience 4 found.

Now…what should I find next?

“YOUR VIDEO WORKED!!!!! I got an appointment from it!!!” 🥹

That’s the message I got from Tricia today—and THIS is exactly why I’m doing the 100 Experiences rural experiment.

Tricia is one of the local experiences listed on Burton & Beyond, and after I shared her experience, she sent me this:

“One simple video made such a difference! It reached new people, created real interest, and brought more traffic to my business. I could actually see the impact.”
— Tricia Legg

THIS is what I want Burton & Beyond to do.

There are talented people creating incredible experiences all over our rural communities. The problem? People don’t always know they’re here.

I want to connect travelers looking for something memorable to do with the locals who need to be discovered.

One video. One new appointment. One more rural experience discovered. ❤️

And we’re just getting started.

Is it Tuesday…or pre-Friday? 😂

Short weeks always have me thinking about the weekend a little early.

My rural travel tip: pick the experience first, then build the weekend around it.

W**e tasting. A workshop. Live music. A spa day. Local history. Something you’ve never tried before.

That’s exactly what I’m doing with my 100 Experiences Rural Experiment—finding 100 things you can DO, not just see, in Washington County and beyond.

So tell me: what are you doing this weekend? 👇

What if rural Texas isn’t boring… we just haven’t uncovered all the good stuff yet? 👀

I’m on a mission to find 100 things you can DO—not just see—in my corner of rural Texas.

01/100 - 03/100 found. 97 to go. 🔎 {did you catch one of my REELS?}

EXPERIENCE 03 of 100

Sometimes the best small-town experiences are the ones you just happen upon.

It was the first Saturday of the month, so I stopped by the Burton Railroad Depot & Museum and ended up chatting with Bill Whitener for a bit.

The Depot is cared for by the Burton Heritage Society, which has been preserving our community’s history since 1973.

If you’re a history buff—or just love discovering the stories hiding in small towns—put this one on your list.

The Depot is open every first and third Saturday, or by appointment.

And here’s the best part: you don’t have to wait for it to be open to experience some of its history.

It’s also a stop on Burton’s Walking Tour & Sound Walk—so grab your phone, take a walk, and let Burton tell you its story.

Happy Sunday Funday Y’all!

This is my favorite Sunday morning routine… walk. golf. pool.

What is your favorite Sunday Funday activity?

Experience number 2 of my 100 Experiences Rural Experiment… and this one is FREE.

Hidden behind the Texas Cotton Gin Museum in Burton is the Indian Creek Nature Area.

It’s two acres of wooded trails, a picnic area, a swing, a wooden bridge, a pollinator garden—and if the creek is running, you might even catch a little waterfall.

What makes it even better?

Volunteers have spent years restoring this land and bringing native plants back.
It’s quiet, simple, and exactly the kind of place you might miss if a local didn’t tell you about it.

Experience 2 of 100. Where should I go next?

OPINION: Three-day weekends are only relaxing if your wife doesn’t have a project. 😂

Jeff has a three-day weekend.

Jeff probably thinks he has a three-day weekend.

I have a list.

And somewhere on that list is getting us a little closer to moving into The Coop so I can turn our current house into another Flown The Coop Stay.

Romantic? Maybe not.

Productive? Absolutely.

Sorry, Jeff. You married a woman with big dreams and a Lowe’s list. 😂

Anybody else’s “long weekend” look suspiciously like manual labor?

🔎 EXPERIENCE 01/100:

Make Custom Jewelry in Small-Town Texas

And we’re officially off! 1 down. 99 to go.

For my first stop on my mission to find 100 things you can DO—not just see—in Washington County and beyond, I sat down with Tricia Legg, owner of Company Five, for a sweet little permanent bracelet.

And honestly, part of the experience was just that—sitting down.

Looking out the window at downtown Brenham, chatting with Tricia, looking through all the beautiful options, and watching her create a piece just for me.

Tricia has an assortment of fine jewelry that she can custom make during a private appointment, so you’re not simply walking into a store and buying something off the shelf. You get to be part of choosing and creating something personal.

Even better? She can bring the experience to you. Girls’ weekend at an Airbnb? Birthday? Mother-daughter getaway? She can come to your stay and turn jewelry shopping into part of the trip.

THAT is what I’m looking for with this little rural experiment.

Not just places to go.
People to meet. Stories to hear. Things to actually DO.

✨ EXPERIENCE 01/100 FOUND.

Company Five is also one of the experiences you can find on Burton & Beyond.

Now I have 99 to go.
