Congratulations 2026 Preservation Grant Recipient - La Bahia Turn Verein Hall in Burton, TX.

Founded by German immigrants as a social club and gym group in 1879, this authentic 1903 dance hall near Round Top hosts the popular La Bahia Antique Show and the Big Star Texas Night each fall. With a main dance hall accommodating 500-600 and a secondary annex with air conditioning for 200-300 guests, the historic Turnverein will be undertaking phased improvements in anticipation of its 150-year anniversary including a remodel of the women’s restroom.

TDHP is proud to have awarded funding in the past and is awarding $10K towards this project.
