Hi. Long time no see.

How do you come back into a space that was your life and then it wasn’t and then felt too overwhelming to show back up in? Read on for a bumbling attempt (hi, Sara here!) and a few pieces of news…

News 1: We’ve gotten a string of 3 star reviews on Google and I usually don’t put much stock in them, but it dawned on me that we haven’t sent out any reminders that our shop is no longer open. We closed it in 2024 when Theory Coffee Tech | Nebraska Coffee Technician was needing more space, and it made more sense to give the space we had to the thing that brought in more income. The decision was hard, we loved the shop. We loved the guests and summer crowd and regulars and wholesale partner visits. The summer of 2021 with Chloe and Josie and Kristin and Elle and everyone else was legendary. We can’t specify on Google that we’re not closed but don’t have hours. Sorry.

News 2: The rumor has been floating around that Normal is moving, and it’s true! We were approached with an offer we couldn’t refuse, and decided to take it, let go of this space that we love with all our hearts and are SO DANG PROUD of. We’re just moving down the road to Ord, to a space that is a better fit for us. We outgrew this building years ago. As much as I’m sad about this, I’m proud that we were able to take an unused building with a long history and make it accessible for a storefront again. We learned so, so much within those walls. There may be a week where we pause roasting for the move sometime in August, so wholesale friends, watch your email inbox.

Other than that, things are business as usual. Thanks for continuing to support us even while we’re not showing up here. You people rock. 🤘🏼

A year of change.

to watching Wellspring become a summer staple.

From PourTa becoming a fan favorite
to telling the stories of the people who make our wholesale collective what it is.
From our first year without the Lab in Burwell
to a collective that feels stronger, closer, and more connected than ever.

Seed to Sip seminars filled with generous minds.
Normal Select spotlighting fermented coffees.
Eight years of Normal (still can’t believe it).
The first Greater Nebraska Roaster Tasting.

Team calibrations.

Chronicle.

So much movement.
So much growth.
So much to be grateful for.

This year reminded us that coffee is never just coffee —
it’s people, place, and purpose, brewed together.

Long before Wi-Fi and playlists, there were coffeehouses — places where ideas were shared, conversations took shape, and communities gathered.

In 17th-century London, they were even called “penny universities” because for the price of a cup of coffee you could also join discussions that shaped culture, commerce, and change.

Today, that same spirit lives on. Every time a shop opens its doors, grinds a batch of coffee, and welcomes people in, it continues this centuries-old tradition of connection and exchange.

Coffee still brings us together — to talk, to think, to listen, and to be present.

What you do is a part of that long, meaningful story.
