He has been in our area over last couple of days speaking with our youth about his unique experiences.

Wagner is generously offering gold panning permission permits again this year! These are for lands owned by Bayroot LLC and managed by Wagner Forest Management.
Stop in and fill out your free form anytime, but be aware we are closed on Tuesdays this year.

We are finally getting some warm weather. Yesterday the sun came out, but the river did not rise higher as it does when the snow is still melting in the mountains. So I would assume the snow melt is over!

Prospectors: River update.
A majority of the snow has melted allowing access to most of the main branch of the Swift following Route 17 north of the canyon.
There is a good deal of snow left in the woods and it is not recommended to go to the East Branch for at least a couple more weeks. The snow is a foot deep in a lot of places still.
Be cautious as the water temp is cold and potential for hypothermia is very real. Plan to work the edges.
With these upcoming warm days there will be a lot of snowmelt which will cause the river to rise during the daytime.
Dirt roads are soft as the frost begins to come out of the ground and the tow trucks do not like to go out on them because they are heavier and stand a risk of getting stuck themselves.
Shoulders along route 17 are also soft and it would be wise to check before you pull off of the pavement!

With a little caution it is possible to get out on the river and get the season started!
