Last week, we were riding in the car when my husband said, “I think you’re going to start getting orders for parties and weddings with your baked goods.”
He keeps telling me how much he loves that I’m baking because he knows how happy it makes me—and he’s right. One of my love languages has always been feeding people. I love making meals, baking treats, and giving food to the people I care about. I just never expected it to turn into a business.
Growing up, I always dreamed of baking and decorating cakes. That dream has changed a little over the years. Now, what I really love is finding something I like, putting my own spin on it, creating new recipes, and sharing them with all of you.
It still blows my mind when someone tells me, “That’s the best cookie I’ve ever put in my mouth.” I’m sure it probably isn’t 😂—but hearing it brings me so much joy.
I’ve played around with my chocolate chip cookie recipe for quite a while, and I finally feel like I’ve mastered it. The feedback on the oatmeal cream pie cookies has been incredible. The bagels have been a hit, and of course, everyone loves the Pop-Tarts.
I think I’ve officially found my favorites.
Now, it hasn’t all been a success. I never did master those honey buns. Those were an epic failure. 😂
The truth is, I started baking simply because it brings me joy. I wasn’t expecting anything more to come from it. So, when I received a message this week asking about a large order, my mind was completely blown.
I don’t even know if I’m making money on what I sell now. 😂 I use Kerrygold Irish butter, organic sugar, and a $12 bag of chocolate chips in every batch. I don’t cut corners because I will always choose quality over quantity. No shade to anyone who uses different ingredients—I’m just particular about what goes into mine.
So, I suppose it’s time for me to sit down, figure out my actual costs, and create an official price sheet for larger orders, parties, and maybe even weddings.
I’m honestly still trying to wrap my mind around it. What started as something that simply made me happy may be turning into something bigger—and I’m so incredibly grateful. 💗
