From Abraham, Lindsey, and the entire South Branch Outfitters team, we are heartbroken to share the passing of Don Tretsky.
Don was part of this community for many years and such an important part of the history of the shop. After years with Shannon’s Fly & Tackle, he became SBO’s first employee and one of the most loyal members of our team.
He also had such an interesting life outside of fishing. Don worked in music production and even worked on shows for Santana. Later, he guided for Shannon’s for many years, sharing his knowledge of the river and helping so many people along the way. When his health no longer allowed him to guide, he became an even more familiar face in the shop, always kind, always willing to help, and always ready to share his experience.
We’re incredibly grateful for all the years, stories, fishing, and memories we got to share with him. Don meant a lot to us, and we know he meant a lot to many people in the Califon and fly fishing communities too.
We’re planning a gathering to remember Don and celebrate his life. We’ll share the time and location as soon as those details are finalized.
Rest in peace, Don. You’ll be deeply missed. 🤍
